Friends of Waverly Park/Friends of the Parks was just awarded $52,010 in the form of an LFUCG Water Quality Grant!
The Friends will supply an additional $10,420 in cash and in-kind volunteer hours with assistance from the Fayette County Conservation District.
They will be fixing a severely eroded drainage area from Twain Ridge Drive and other streets that drain through the park into Elkhorn Creek.
EcoGro and Stantec Engineering are doing the design and construction work over the next 24 months.
They will be adding native limestone bank reinforcement to control future erosion. They will also be replanting the very important riparian zone along the water to reduce erosion and assist with water quality.
Thank you to Ed Monahan with Friends of Waverly Park for volunteering his time preparing the grant and seeing that this important water quality and habitat restoration work is completed.
