On behalf of the Class of 1986, we offer our condolences to the family and loved ones of Ben Cottrell - VMI '83. Ben was respected by the Class of 1986 as we knew him as a member of the 1983 Rat Disciplinary Committee. He was a good man gone too soon. RIP.

View Benjamin Gray Cottrell's obituary, send flowers and sign the guestbook.

On Friday, 2 NOV 18, the VMI Class of 1983 will be hosting a party at their 35th Reunion. The event will be a Bar-B-Q/cookout at McKethan Park and the headline entertainment will be The Strain featuring Sammy Shako! Best of all is they have invited any/all members of the Class of ‘86 to attend as their guests! More details will come as we get closer but this should be a great event. Make plans now to be “present and accounted for”!

Does everyone recall where you were at this time 33 years ago today - 18 August 1982? I suspect most of us were reading page 15 of The Bullet and memorizing the names of the Honor Court. Either that or we were trying on new clothes or getting a haircut. It wasn't a day at the Spa; it was the start of something big....

RIP General Sam S. Walker.

It is with sorrow that we report the loss of two BRs this past week.

John Hairr passed away on Wednesday in Waynesboro, VA. There will be a memorial service for John next Wednesday, March 26th at 2:45 PM at Fishburne Military Academy in Waynesboro. John was a much-admired and well-liked faculty member at Fishburne. John is survived by his wife, Deborah.

Earlier in the week, Curry May passed away in Atlanta, GA. Curry was only with us for part of our rat year but was a memorable young man who later graduated from the University of Georgia and became an attorney. I believe a memorial service for Curry has already taken place.

May God grant eternal rest to both of them and comfort their families in this time of great loss.

Courtesy of BR Chuck Steenburgh, here is a pic of the Hall of Fame induction from September of 2014 of GEN Binford Peay shaking hands with our BR Al Comer. Al joins BRs Gay Elmore, Sheldon Johnson, Ben Walker and Greg Weddle in the VMI Sports Hall of Fame. I am told that GEN Peay had this photo on his FB page. Way to go, AC!
