Sean Guerra Named Head Football Coach
Lexington Public Schools is proud to announce the hiring of Sean Guerra as the new Head Football Coach.
Coach Guerra is a graduate of Washington High School (Class of 2016) and earned his bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Central Oklahoma. He is entering his fifth year at Lexington, where he has coached football, wrestling, and baseball, and has already made a strong impact across multiple programs. In addition to coaching, Guerra teaches middle school English, serves as the sponsor of the middle school student council, and sponsor of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) in both the middle and high schools.
“I’ve always dreamed of becoming a head football coach and building my own program,” Guerra said. “I want to set a high standard for myself and my players—one built on accountability, commitment, and pride. I want our players to care about each other and know that our coaching staff truly cares about them.”
Superintendent Chad Hall believes Guerra’s leadership extends well beyond the field.
“Coach Guerra has proven to be student-centered and growth-oriented in all of his work for Lexington Public Schools,” Hall said. “The decision to give him the opportunity to lead a program that can be impactful for many young men was largely based on those qualities. I am excited to see what Sean brings in terms of focus for football and beyond as he builds accountability and energy.”
Guerra’s goals for the upcoming season include competing for a playoff spot while also helping student-athletes earn opportunities to play at the next level. Beyond wins and losses, he sees the football program as a way to strengthen school spirit and bring the community together.
“I want our program to be something people are excited about,” Guerra said. “I want our players to support other sports and help create energy throughout the entire school.”
Known for his willingness to learn and grow, Guerra believes continuous improvement is key to success. His own experience as a player—having to outwork others rather than rely on size or speed—shapes how he leads today. He also credits longtime mentors Brad Beller, Brian Beller, and Jeff Kulbeth for teaching him the importance of sacrifice, leadership, and balancing coaching with family and faith.
Athletic Director Wes Moore believes Coach Guerra is the right leader to guide the program forward.
“We’re excited for Coach Guerra to build a culture centered on accountability, character, and pride in Lexington,” Moore said. “We believe he will help develop young men who represent our school and community the right way, both on and off the field.”
Coach Guerra and his wife, Chelsea, were married in June of 2024 and welcomed their first child, Lincoln Matthew, in May of 2025.
Lexington looks forward to the future of its football program under Coach Guerra’s leadership.
Please join us in congratulating Coach Guerra! 🏈🐾
