This summer has been filled with remarkable achievements by many beloved members of the BSAUK community who have successfully defended their theses and dissertations. We are incredibly proud to add another deserving name, Dr. Md. Tawabur Rahman Papul, to this list of successful individuals who have reached such an important academic milestone.

Our heartiest congratulations to Dr. Rahman on successfully defending his Ph.D. dissertation in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Kentucky. His dissertation was titled “Inkjet Printing and Photonic Processing of Metal-Based Functional Materials for Electrochemical Sensing and Catalysis.”

Through years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance, Dr. Rahman has reached this significant milestone, and we are confident that many more accomplishments await him in the years ahead. We feel fortunate to have witnessed and shared a part of his journey.

We wish him the very best as he begins the next chapter of his research and professional career.

A big congratulations to Dr. Mohammad Sajjad Hossain on successfully defending his Ph.D. dissertation on “Transnational Care-giving.” 🎓

Through hard work, dedication, and academic excellence, Dr. Hossain established himself as a faculty member at Jagannath University in Bangladesh years ago. After serving there successfully, he chose the University of Kentucky, College of Social Work to pursue his doctoral studies. BSAUK is proud to have such an accomplished individual and valuable asset of our country among us, and we feel honored to have witnessed and celebrated this important milestone in his life.

Following the completion of his doctoral degree, he will return to Jagannath University and continue serving as a professor. To recognize his achievement and bid him farewell, the BSAUK committee arranged a small gathering on behalf of our community.

We sincerely hope to welcome more dedicated and inspiring individuals like Dr. Hossain into our community in the future. Our heartfelt best wishes are with him as he begins the next chapter of his academic and professional journey.

Congratulations to Hasin Shahed Shad on successfully defending his master’s thesis today from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Kentucky!🎓 His research focused on the topic, "ImputeCGM: A Web-Based AI Tool for Imputing Missing Values in Continuous Glucose Monitoring Data".
Shad is a perfect example of positivity, someone who can debug the craziest problems on earth while still finding time to travel, enjoy life, and appreciate the happiness around him. People like him bring much-needed positive energy to a student community like ours, where we face new challenges every day.
As happy as we are about this wonderful achievement, we are equally excited that he will begin the next chapter of his academic journey as a Ph.D. student in the Department of Biomedical Informatics and Data Science at the University of Kentucky in Fall 2026. We wish him continued success, happiness, and excellence in all future endeavors.

Our heartiest congratulations to the power couple of BSAUK, Dr. Atik Ahamed Utso and Dr. Rabeya Tus Sadia, on successfully defending their Ph.D. dissertations! 🎓
It feels like only yesterday that they began their journey in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Kentucky, and today, through years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance, both have earned the prestigious doctoral degree in their respective fields.
Throughout their academic and research journeys, they have demonstrated remarkable commitment, excellence, and brilliance. We are incredibly proud to have such dedicated and inspiring individuals as part of BSAUK.

Today, we are celebrating another wonderful milestone achieved by a beloved member of our community. Our heartiest congratulations to Dr. Upama Dev on successfully defending her Ph.D.! 🎓
Dr. Dev completed her Ph.D. from the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences at the University of Kentucky. Her research topic was, “Spatiotemporal Dynamics and Localization of the Maize Seed Endophytic Microbiome.”
Alongside her valuable contributions to her field of research, she has always been a familiar and active presence in our community. Her dedication, perseverance, and hard work have made this achievement truly well deserved.
We are incredibly proud of her and confident that she will continue to achieve great success in all her future endeavors. Our heartfelt best wishes to Dr. Dev as she begins the next chapter of her journey.

The Bangladeshi Student Association at the University of Kentucky (BSAUK) is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Zamil Ahamed Limon and Nahida Sultana Bristy, two talented Bangladeshi graduate students at the University of South Florida.

This fundraiser has been launched by Zamil’s graduate supervisor at USF in cooperation with the Bangladesh Student Association and with the consent of both bereaved families. The fund will help support funeral proceedings, transfer of remains and belongings, and other urgent financial burdens caused by this heartbreaking tragedy.

We kindly request everyone to support the families during this difficult time. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help ease their burden as Zamil and Nahida make their final return to Bangladesh.
