Project Potential

Project Potential Project Potential was founded in 1994 by local businessman Tim Timberlake and former superintendent Jim Simeon.

Their purpose for starting this program was to encourage more students in our community to enroll in a college or university after graduating from high school. As a result of their vision and commitment, Project Potential raised the funds needed to offer partial scholarships to 13 students in 1996. Enhanced Focus:
Since its inception, the focus of Project Potential has expanded to meet the needs o

f a growing number of economically disadvantaged students in the Lexington City School System. With the addition of services that provide comprehensive support throughout high school, we are now able to identify and successfully address many of the obstacles our students face in the college application and enrollment process.

Rain or shine, LSHS shows up!
Our students braved the cold and rain for a campus tour at UNC Charlotte…and it was so worth it! They got to catch up with some of our awesome alumni who are now 49ers and hear all about their college journeys.

At LSHS, we’re helping our seniors take the next big step after graduation! 💙 Over 170 seniors participated in College Application Week, applying to one or more colleges or universities.

We also welcomed a Military Representative who shared valuable insights about serving our country and the opportunities that come with the Enlist option.

Whether our students choose to Enroll in college, Enlist in the military, or Employ their skills directly in the workforce, we’re proud to support every path to success. 🌟

LSHS is committed to helping every senior plan, apply, and secure their post-secondary future, because their journey is just beginning!

Today we spent the day in Aggieland touring the beautiful campus, learning about the rich culture, deep-rooted pride, and admissions process at North Carolina A&T State University.

We were also fortunate to hear from four of our alumni, who shared their experiences transitioning into college and offered valuable advice to our students. A big thank you to them for giving back and inspiring the next generation!
