Swim with Purpose Bringing swimming back to Kentucky State University, the Franklin County and Frankfort communities, and the YMCA. Donate: bit.ly/SwP

The purpose of the Swim with Purpose Fund is to raise $1 million dollars to support the reestablishment of the indoor pool facility at the Exum Center for the community to utilize for healthy lifestyle and therapy. Programs will be created by the University and the Frankfort YMCA to break generational stigmas and create a safe and teachable atmosphere for children, college students and adults. This fund will also establish a self-sustaining fund for ongoing maintenance and programs while partnering with the community with programs and facilities. This Fall Swim With Purpose helped fund swim lessons in three different KY counties- Franklin, Henderson and Madison. During the course of these continuing swim lessons 515 children will receive lifesaving skills including water safety instruction and beginners swim lessons!

Here is the latest single from the WTTB Band. This was written by yours truly, Al Walsh, and Melody- my wife. Al composed the music as well.
Just a reminder about Gertrude Ederle- Ms Ederle won an Olympic Gold Medal in 1924. In 1925 she attempted her first crossing of the English Channel. In 1926, she successfully cross the Channel. Her time of 14 hours and 30 minutes beat all six men who had crossed before by over 2 hours! She was celebrated across the nation and was given a ticker tape parade in NYC. Her record would stand for 35 years!

On Friday, March 13th in partnership with the Lexington YMCA, we conducted swim lessons and water safety instruction for 60 4th graders from Frankfort Independent Schools. There were many success stories of kids who couldn't swim or float before they came, but by the time they left the were swimming basic freestyle and breaststroke! Thanks to the YMCA and the volunteers who did a great job with the children.

About 50 fourth graders from Frankfort’s Second Street Elementary School traveled to the North YMCA in Lexington for water safety instruction ahead of the upcoming pool season.
