Today feels extraordinary, not just as a moment in sports, but as a moment in history. And it feels so good, so deeply meaningful… to be Haitian.

November 18th is sacred for Haitians worldwide. It marks the Battle of Vertières, the final, decisive victory that led to Haiti becoming the first Black republic and the first nation in the Western Hemisphere to abolish slavery. A day when courage defeated an empire.

And today, Haiti is writing history again.

Our national soccer team is officially headed to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, returning to the global stage for the first time in over 50 years, since 1974.
A new generation rising. A new chapter unfolding. A new moment that reminds the world who we are.

The world is watching.
They’re cheering.
They’re praying.
And they’re witnessing a nation that refuses to be defined by its hardships.

Haiti has proven once again:
