For the last several years, Smoking Shields Midlands Chapter has continued to stand beside us in our mission to Save a Hero — and this evening they once again showed just how much they care about our law enforcement community. 💙🖤

Not only did they donate again this year, but they increased their donation to make an even bigger impact for the officers and families we serve. That kind of continued support means more than words can express.

Smoking Shields is a nonprofit fraternal organization made up of active and retired law enforcement officers, military members, and supporters who are passionate about fellowship, service, and giving back to first responders and their families. What started as a group coming together in brotherhood has grown into an organization that continually raises money and supports officers, military members, and families during times of need.

Time and time again, Smoking Shields Midlands Chapter steps up to support causes that make a difference in the lives of those who serve others. We are incredibly grateful for their partnership, generosity, and heart for the law enforcement community.

Thank you, Smoking Shields Midlands Chapter, for believing in The Haven and for helping us continue to support officers and their families across South Carolina. 🙏👮‍♂️💙🖤

With all the tragedy experienced across South Carolina this Police Week we wanted to ask a simple question…

💙🖤 aRe yoU OK? 🖤💙

As an officer…
As the spouse of an officer…
As the child of an officer…

RUOK?

When you’re sitting alone in your patrol car after another tragic call… RUOK?

When your officer walks out the door for another 12-hour shift after everything that’s happened this week… RUOK?

When you read the stories of fallen officers on social media or watch the videos replaying the heartbreak over and over again… RUOK?

When you’re preparing yourself for another long weekend of single parenting because your officer is working every shift they can… RUOK?

When you drop off cards, food, or gifts at a fallen officer’s agency and see the patrol car memorial sitting outside… RUOK?

When you sit in the endless line of blue lights escorting your fallen brother or sister home one final time… RUOK?

When you pull out your neatly pressed Class A uniform knowing it’s time to say goodbye to one of your own… RUOK?

The truth is… sometimes we’re not OK.

And that’s completely normal.

If you are struggling — day or night — whether you’re the officer, spouse, child, or parent of an officer… we want you to know that you are not alone.

We know these feelings because we’ve lived them too.

We are officers.
We are spouses.
We are children of this profession.

We get it.
And we will always have your six.

It’s been a tough Police Week for South Carolina’s law enforcement community. 💙🖤

After already mourning the loss of an Officer Keller from the Greenwood Police Department earlier this week, we woke up this morning to the heartbreaking news that our brothers and sisters in blue at the Greenville Police Department lost Sergeant Ashley Munoz in an off-duty collision. We also learned that Sergeant Diana Munoz was critically injured in the same collision and was airlifted from the scene.

Please join us in praying for the Munoz family, their shifts, their friends, and the entire Greenville Police Department during this incredibly difficult time.

In this profession, the losses hit differently because we are family. We carry these burdens together and stand shoulder to shoulder with those hurting today.

💙🖤

🖤💙🚔

In this family, the lines run deep. And when we lose one of our own in blue… we all feel it.

That’s why the black band across a badge stings so sharply. Maybe it’s because it serves as a stark reminder that in this profession, life can change in the blink of an eye. One call. One moment. One knock at the door that changes everything forever.

When we lose one of our own, it’s not just officers who carry the pain. It’s the spouses who hold their breath every shift until they hear the sound of velcro at the end of the night. It’s the children anxiously waiting near the door for their mommy or daddy’s patrol car to finally pull into the driveway. It’s the families, friends, and entire departments who all carry the weight together.

And while every loss is heavy… losses like the one our brothers and sisters in blue at the Greenwood Police Department suffered with the loss of Officer DJ Keller are the heaviest. DJ leaves behind his wife, Ali, and their two-year-old daughter. These losses hit the hardest.

But it’s also why, every day, officers suit back up, pin on the badge, and walk back out the door. Because even through the heartbreak, we stand beside our brothers and sisters to hold the line.

Today we joined our friends and fellow LEO families at the Lexington County Law Enforcement Memorial Service to pay tribute to the officers in Lexington County who made the ultimate sacrifice. It was an honor to celebrate these heroes and to fellowship with so many of our local agencies that partner with us. 💙🖤
