Forgiving God, we confess that we are conformed to this world. We conform to this world’s frantic pace, too hectic to notice all the blessings you provide. We conform to this world’s reckless waste, exploiting what you entrust to our care. We conform to this world’s shallow values, oblivious to the giftedness of people different from us. We conform to this world’s impatient attitudes, preferring the latest instead of the lasting. Forgive our conformity and transform us, O God. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer of Confession
God of Hidden Light, Sun behind dark clouds, Calm amidst whirling winds, Peace within stormy seas, We come seeking safe harbor for our battered souls. Weary and worn, we now confess the fears that rock our boats and the faults that weigh us down. For clinging to the dead weight of regrets and resentments, trusting only our past failures to guide us, God of mercy, forgive us. For mooring ourselves to the false anchors of shame and guilt, losing the bearing of your image within us, and treating ourselves and others as enemies and fools, God, by your love, blot out our sin. Renew your image within us, and rekindle your spirit between us. Set us on a new course, buoyed by your peace, guided by your grace, and powered by your Spirit of Truth, Amen.

This morning we welcome Rev. Bennie Braddick to our pulpit. Originally from Texas, Bennie has been preaching and teaching in central Kentucky since 2005. After a 15-year pastorate in Lexington, she explored a new call to serve immigrants and refugees by becoming certified to Teach English as a Second Language (TESL). While serving a 3-year pastorate in Georgetown, Kentucky, she also taught speakers of 18 languages from 30 countries at BCTC Adult Ed in Lexington. Bennie recently accepted a call to serve Stanford Presbyterian Church as interim pastor. In their spare time, Bennie and her husband, David, love taking their little dog, Diesel, on long hikes through Kentucky’s amazing landscape, as well as biking, eating local food, listening to live music, and traveling. They especially enjoy traveling to visit their adult children, Sarah and Lucas, who live in Ohio and North Carolina.

Merciful God, you teach us compassion, and we practice bigotry. You implore us to trust you, while we create idols. You send Christ as a witness that you will not forsake us; yet we fret over matters as though you cared not at all. Forgive our compulsion to control our own destiny. This morning we welcome Rev. Prof. Lalsangkima (Kima) Pachuau to our pulpit. Kima is the John Wesley Beeson Professor of Christian Mission at Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore, KY. Originally from India, Kima has been teaching World Religions, World Christianity, Theology of Mission, and other related courses at Asbury Seminary. He studied at Princeton Seminary (PhD and ThM), then taught for seven years at a Seminary in Bangalore, India. Before coming to Asbury, he was a research scholar at the Center of Theological Inquiry in Princeton, NJ, and served with the Presbytery of New Brunswick in New Jersey for a year as a mission consultant. Kima was ordained by the Presbyterian Church of India and has been an active member of Transylvania Presbytery since moving to Kentucky in 2006. He is married to Lalneihkimi (“Kimi”) Sailo, and they have two grown (married) sons and a granddaughter.

Good Morning, Friends of Hunter. This morning, June 7th, 2026, we're sorry that we won't be able to broadcast the service to our online worshippers.
