Prayer of Confession
O Christ, we confess that we, too, make light of your invitation. We are reluctant to come when the feast is made ready. Our time is committed; business is pressing. We are afraid we will be with the wrong people. At times dissension hinders our response. We are not at peace with those likewise invited. We are in need of forgiveness to heal our divisions, and a measure of mercy to partake of your grace.

This morning we welcome Rev. Prof. Lalsangkima (Kima) Pachuau to our pulpit. Kima is the John Wesley Beeson Professor of Christian Mission at Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore, KY. Originally from India, Kima has been teaching World Religions, World Christianity, Theology of Mission, and other related courses at Asbury Seminary. He studied at Princeton Seminary (PhD and ThM), then taught for seven years at a Seminary in Bangalore, India. Before coming to Asbury, he was a research scholar at the Center of Theological Inquiry in Princeton, NJ, and served with the Presbytery of New Brunswick in New Jersey for a year as a mission consultant. Kima was ordained by the Presbyterian Church of India and has been an active member of Transylvania Presbytery since moving to Kentucky in 2006. He is married to Lalneihkimi (“Kimi”) Sailo, and they have two grown (married) sons and a granddaughter.

Draw us away from the easy road that leads to destruction, and guide us into paths that lead to life abundant, that in seeking your truth, and obeying your will, we may know the joy of being a disciple of Jesus Christ our Savior, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
