What if the Gospels are not “Act 2” of the story?

We often think the Old Testament ends with Malachi and the New Testament begins with Matthew. But Jesus and the disciples were still living inside the world of the Hebrew Scriptures, the promises, the covenants, the expectations of Israel.

Maybe the Gospels are the climax of Act 1.

And maybe Act 2 truly begins at the resurrection, when the New Covenant promised by Jeremiah and Ezekiel finally comes into force.

The story was never disconnected. The New Testament is not a replacement of the old story. It is the fulfillment of it.

Corrie ten Boom’s message was never just about surviving history. It was about making sure evil like that never rises again.

One of her former assistants said it plainly: Corrie wanted people to never again turn toward hatred of the Jewish people.

That legacy still opens doors today. Not because of politics or performance, but because she stood with the Jewish people when it cost everything.

In a world full of noise and division, maybe faithfulness still looks like standing close enough to carry someone else’s burden. Even into the camps.

Why does Jesus start flipping tables…right before Passover?

It’s not random. And it’s not just about corruption.

At the very same time, Jewish families were clearing their homes of chametz (leaven)…Jesus was doing something similar in His Father’s house.

And then there’s the fig tree. Full of leaves. No fruit.

It all connects. Once you see it, you won’t read this moment the same way again.

“A lamb rides into Jerusalem on a donkey…”

An image so ridiculous, we had to imagine it for a moment. Sounds like the start of a joke.

It’s not.

It’s the moment everything shifts.
Not a king coming to take power.
A Lamb coming to give His life.

They waved palms.
He was thinking Passover.

The story was always bigger than they imagined.

The promise to Abraham was never narrow.

Israel was not chosen instead of the nations.
Israel was chosen for the nations.

“In you all the families of the earth will be blessed.” - Genesis 12:3

That calling is echoed again in Isaiah:

“I will make you as a light for the nations, that My salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.” - Isaiah 49:6

Jesus repeats it in the Sermon on the Mount:

“You are the light of the world.” - Matthew 5:14

And He commissions it to His disciples:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” - Matthew 28:19

The promise was always outward.
It is still unfolding.
And it is still to be fulfilled, in full.
