We are thrilled to welcome Brig. Gen. Benjamin F. Adams, III to Salute to Service this weekend!

Brig. Gen. Adams served with the Army from 1978 to 2018. His decorated career garnered him the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Joint Meritorious Unit Award.

Brig. General Adams — pictured here at center with Jessamine County Judge Executive David West at left and Wilmore Mayor Harold Rainwater at right — spent 15 years active duty in the Army, and after a brief stint away from service, transitioned to the Kentucky National Guard as an Army aviator. He served as the 5th Commissioner of Kentucky’s Department of Veterans Affairs, overseeing day-to-day operational management of the state’s veteran nursing homes, cemeteries, and women’s and homeless programs.

He was later appointed as Executive Director of the Department of Military Affairs to supervise disaster planning, Kentucky National Guard state missions, and state and federal management and accountability. General Adam’s service continues to encompass “all things veterans and their families.”

Thank you for your service and instrumental work in the planning of this event, General Adams! 🇺🇸
