Commonwealth Center for Fathers & Families

Commonwealth Center for Fathers & Families Our mission is to support fathers in providing child and family safety, economic stability, & more.

The Commonwealth Center for Fathers and Families (CCFF) was first formed in 2005 as the Kentucky Fatherhood Initiative. Efforts began as a group of conscious and concerned professionals, service providers, government agencies, and citizens with a vision to enhance the quality of life for children and promote family well-being through healthy and positive father engagement. This group was in tune w

ith the then-emerging acknowledgment that engaging fathers would also lift children and families. It recognized the need for a centralized agent to enhance, increase, and coordinate father engagement services across Kentucky. While the work has been maintained on various scales across administrations and for well over a decade, the efforts received a momentum boost by securing a statewide strategic planning grant in the Spring of 2019.

A LEGENDARY CELEBRATION FOR LEGENDARY DADS!

This past Saturday, we celebrated the men of our Summer 2026 KyDaD Academy cohort as they were commissioned. Following the ceremony, our dads took the field and were recognized as Legendary Dads, alongside other fathers nominated by their families and communities for the impact they make every day.

In partnership with the Lexington Legends, we were proud to bring our Legendary Dad Campaign to life on the field, creating a special opportunity to celebrate fathers who lead, serve, and make a difference in the lives of those around them.

We’re grateful to the MAP Foundation for their continued support of our KYDaDs. Year after year, they help us make each commissioning celebration special by showing up for our fathers and helping us honor the work they’ve put in throughout the cohort.

To the Summer 2026 KYDaD Academy Cohort: your dedication and hard work didn’t go unnoticed, and your families are better because of it.

Thank you to all of our supporters and to everyone who made this day possible! Until next time…💜

Another Louisville fatherhood roundtable is in the books!

These gatherings bring organizations that serve fathers and families into the same room to share what’s working, spotlight upcoming programs, and figure out where we can lean on each other. This time was no exception: honest conversation, fresh ideas, and a genuine willingness to put in the work together.

We’re grateful for every organization that shows up ready to collaborate, because that’s how real support networks get built. Partnership strengthens the work. Collaboration multiplies it. And at the center of it all is the same goal: uplifting fathers and giving our children a brighter future.

CCFF ON THE GO IN LOUISVILLE!

What a powerful time at the 2026 NCSEA Leadership Symposium in Louisville, Kentucky!

The National Child Support Engagement Association brings together leaders and professionals from across the child support community to share best practices, strengthen partnerships, explore innovative ideas, and ultimately improve the work being done to support children and families. (NCSEA)

CCFF was honored to be part of that conversation through our workshop on Fatherhood and Recovery, exploring how integrating fatherhood into recovery housing can be a powerful catalyst for sobriety, stronger family relationships, and long term healing. Drawing from the Fatherhood, Art, and Recovery (FAR) pilot project, a collaborative effort between CCFF and the Fletcher Group that brought fatherhood focused support into four recovery houses across Kentucky. the session highlighted what can happen when fathers are not only supported in recovery, but are also empowered in their role as fathers.

A special thank you to our incredible partner, Kristin Tiedeman, for sharing her expertise, experiences, and passion for this work.

CCFF ON THE GO AGAIN! ✈️

Dallas, TX was one for the books! We had the opportunity to attend a national fatherhood conference, connect with leaders from across the country, and continue learning, sharing, and building toward a stronger future for fathers and families.

Our Chief Visionary Officer, David Cozart, joined a dynamic panel discussion on creative ways to build and sustain effective fatherhood programs, sharing insight from the work we’re doing across Kentucky and beyond.

One of the greatest moments was seeing two of our own KYDaD Academy alumni, Zack Bradshaw and Jamie Gamble, take the stage as panelists themselves! Even more exciting, both are now featured in a fatherhood documentary currently in development by Fathers Incorporated, led by Kenneth Braswell.

From Kentucky to Dallas, we’re proud to see the work continue to grow, the connections continue to strengthen, and our fathers continue to lead.

That’s a wrap! Another KYDaD Huddle in the books.

What started as a response to the growing number of fathers eager to be part of the KYDaD Academy journey has grown into something truly impactful. Our KYDaD Huddles were created as a first step, a place for fathers to connect, grow, and build the foundation needed to continue their journey toward becoming better fathers.

Congratulations to our Lexington KYDaD Huddle and A special thank you and congratulations to our KYDaD Alum, Asher Snedegar and John Bowman for leading this cohort and pouring back into these men. One of the most powerful pieces of this work is witnessing the full-circle impact of fatherhood engagement, fathers who once sat in these seats are now standing in front of the room, guiding others through the same journey. They didn’t just learn it, they lived it, and now they’re leading it.

This is what happens when we invest in fathers: growth turns into leadership, and leadership turns into lasting impact for families and communities.

CCFF is committed to building capacity to serve fathers across the Commonwealth of Kentucky while also raising Kentucky to a national example of promising practices in fatherhood engagement.

This commitment recently brought us to Prestonburg, KY, for the BSCAP Family Advocate Training, where we had the opportunity to facilitate our Fundamentals of Fatherhood presentation with Family Advocates and community leaders dedicated to strengthening families across Eastern Kentucky.

One of the most impactful parts of the training was our Lived Experience Panel, where our KYDaD Alum fathers shared their personal journeys of growth, restoration, and resilience. Their stories demonstrated the power of investing in fathers and provided real-world insight into how fatherhood programming can transform lives, strengthen families, and inspire hope.

CCFF on the go again!✈️

We’re grateful for the opportunity to have our Chief Visionary Officer, David Cozart, represent CCFF as a panelist at the 2026 National Fatherhood Summit in Dallas, Texas.

This is more than an opportunity to share, it’s an opportunity to bring the collective work happening across Kentucky to a national stage. Through collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to strengthening fathers and families, Kentucky continues to build momentum and emerge as a model for fatherhood engagement and family support.

David will share insights, strategies, and lessons learned from Kentucky’s collaborative approach while engaging with leaders and practitioners from across the country who are working to advance the fatherhood movement. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this national conversation, learn from others doing this work, and continue building partnerships that strengthen fathers, families, and communities.
