Started as a grassroots organization focused on saving the farmland at Busa Farm owned by the Town of Lexington – and operating it as a community farm. Became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to education about farms, farming and sustainable land use. Opened Lexington Community Farm, a project of LexFarm and Community Farms Outreach, in April 2014. Spend a summer evening at LexFarm creating a stunning flower arrangement as the sun sets over the fields. Kathy Leva, an accredited flower show judge will guide you in selecting fresh-cut blooms from LexFarm’s fields. While you’re making your creation, sip handcrafted mocktails made with locally prepared shrubs by Will Caines of Wicked Bess, showcasing fresh, seasonal flavors that perfectly complement the evening. Take home your masterpiece in a mason jar provided by LexFarm. (Ages 18+)

Summer youth programs are drawing to a close but we hope your kiddos will join us all year long at the farm! We have a couple spots left in our year-round drop off program for preschoolers, 1 spot in our Animal Care class for 1st-6th graders, lots of space in Weds Scouts for grades K-2, and a slew of parent/child together offerings too! A moment for the orchard!! 🍇 Today we topped off our Friday harvest with grapes and elderberries. And the wonderful Rascal Relish LLC is going to whip us up an elderberry syrup for the farm stand, stay tuned..!

The flower field is open for pick your own this week!💐 Come by to pick your own bouquet for $1/stem or grab a beautiful bouquet from the farm stand. In the stand we also have tomatillos, husk cherries, hot peppers, poblanos, endless tomatoes, and some delicious organic watermelon and canteloupe from our friends Next Barn Over Farm

Please join us to clean the onion & garlic harvest in the greenhouse!

Our harvested onions and garlic have been drying, but need some extra care to be prepared for storage.

This is a less physically demanding task, mostly done while seated in the greenhouse.

August on the farm has brought glorious afternoon light, rainy and hot days, and a bountiful harvest every single day. Some highlights from the week:

1. Tomato abundance!
2. Sunnies for days
3. Rainbow chard
4. Curing onions in the greenhouse
5. okra flower
6. Miranda teaching how to paper pot spinach (it worked!)
7. Celery harvest
8. The alpacas enjoying some free reign

Let’s hear it for this summer’s fabulous teaching team! Kaytaki (UVM) and Elise (Tufts School of Nutrition) are LexFarm’s star ed/ag interns this year and the farm kids are thriving under their care. Jo (LHS) is our first ever CIT and will be a hard act to follow! Lucky kids, lucky farm 🥕

🍦 frozen treats 🍦 we have you covered in the frozen treat department. We have wild pops, Kulfi, ice cream sandwiches, ice creams and dairy and dairy-free. Come and get your sweet treats! 🍦 🍨

CREW SPOTLIGHT 💡🧄

Olivia is happy to be back at Lex farm for her second season. They were an apprentice last year and are back as an assistant grower. Olivia sees community ag as a great way to skill up in growing food and move towards more autonomous food systems. Some of their favorite moments on the farm are summer garlic harvest and fall garlic planting. Olivia is excited to be back working with the best crew and learning from great farmers!
