Our May 23rd Speaker: Rev. Dr. Leonard O. Griffin
Here’s a little bit about him👇🏽
The Reverend Dr. Leonard O. Griffin hails from Edgefield, SC. He’s married to Wandalyn Kenner Griffin. They birthed 3 children: Samuel DeLeon (deceased), Kandy JaNay and Kemuel James-Owen Griffin! Dr. Griffin is a USN & USNR veteran.
Reverend Dr. Griffin served four churches prior to his current pastorate. Previously, Dr. Griffin served as the 7th Pastor of the historic Morris Street Baptist Church, Charleston, SC. He’s most proud of an outreach and educational program using a curriculum labeled “Social Butterflies” targeting 12–14 year-old middle school girls. The program augmented their academic lessons teaching life skills and mentoring.
On March 6, 2022, with nearly ninety percent of congregation’s support, Dr. Griffin accepted the call to serve as the 12th Pastor of Old Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 200 Macedonia Road, North Augusta, SC. Dr. Griffin serves as the Executive Secretary (President) of the Home Mission Board for the NBC, USA, Inc., 2nd VP for the SC Baptist Congress of Christian Education, and is a candidate to become Vice President At-Large of the Baptist E. and M. Convention of SC.
Pastor Griffin believes highly in education earning his BA in Pastoral Ministry from Morris College, Sumter, SC in 1999; his M.Div. from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School, Rochester, NY, 2002; and his Ed.D. in 2021 from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, NC creating a dissertation entitled: An Academic-Styled Seminar: An Intrinsic Case Study of the South Carolina Baptist Congress of Christian Education.
