There is a lot of heaviness, hurt, and harm happening in the United States and around the world. The MQG is pausing for a moment to acknowledge the sheer amount of disregard for human rights and the long-lasting impact this will have for generations to come.
While our membership is one small carveout of all folks in this world, we are committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all, including people of color, of all abilities, of all ages, of all countries, and our LGBTQIA+ community and we affirm this through our Community Guidelines (link below).
We are reminded that as quilters we are often afforded the opportunity to quilt for solace, for joy, for giving, for protest, for expression. Quilting has long been used to decry acts of social injustice and the atrocities that befall humankind.

The quilt shown is "The Part of History" by Karin Rabe which will be on display at QuiltCon 2026 in Raleigh, NC in February. Karin is a member of the Minneapolis MQG. Her artist statement follows:
"This quilt was born from both frustration and stubborn hope. Growing up studying the history of the world wars, I asked this question a lot. Sadly, it seems to have more relevance today than ever. We’re living through events now that future generations will study. Do we want them to be asking the same question? This quilt is a tangible reminder that what we do right now matters."
