Special Olympics Davidson County had a delegation of 60 individuals with 44 of those being athletes competing in aquatics, athletics, basketball, bowling, gymnastics, and powerlifting at the Special Olympics NC Summer Games 2026 this past weekend. You can tell by the smiles in the pictures that our athletes had a wonderful time and all brought home some new medals.

Thank you to the athletes for all your hard work and to the coaches and volunteers for always supporting the athletes! We also want to give a special thanks to Holly Grove Lutheran Church for their support of our athletes Friday with cheers for competition and treats for the weekend. Our athletes greatly appreciated the snacks as they traveled to the games and returned back to their dorm rooms between all the exciting events.

While the first picture displays the letters representing United Way, the image of our athletes at the Victory Dance capturing the conclusion of the 2026 Special Olympics Davidson County Spring Games show an unmatched sense of joy and passion.

From the competition on March 25th with 450 athletes to the final dance, none of this would be possible without the support of United Way of Davidson County.
