Cassondra, a founding member of the 1795 Society, shares why the library matters so deeply to our community and why she chose to invest in its future through the 1795 Society.

Her story reflects what so many of us know to be true:

- the library creates access to knowledge and opportunity
- it sparks imagination and discovery
- it strengthens our community through learning and connection

That is the impact the 1795 Society helps sustain. Through ongoing support, members help strengthen the library’s ability to serve, adapt, and remain accessible for all.

We invite you to watch Cassondra’s story and reflect on what the library makes possible for children, families, and our community.

If her message resonates with you, and you would like to learn more about the 1795 Society visit: https://www.lexpublib.org/foundation/1795

“Public libraries are the best use of your tax dollars.” — Silas House

As Silas House reminds us, public libraries do more than lend books—they offer resources, inspiration, and a welcoming place for everyone in our community. Our library is committed to being a responsible steward of public dollars, ensuring every investment goes toward lifelong learning, creativity, and opportunity for all.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for An Evening with Silas House at The Kentucky Theatre. Seeing a room full of passionate readers was a true testament to the power of literature in bringing us together.

We are grateful to Silas House for sharing his inspiring words, to the members of the 1795 Society for their ongoing support, and to the Marksbury Family Foundation for their investment that made this special evening possible.

Sharing space to celebrate literature deepens our sense of community and reminds us of the power of community connections. We love seeing neighbors come together over shared stories and powerful ideas.

The freedom to explore new ideas belongs to everyone. Today is Right to Read Day, a moment to celebrate your access to and diverse stories and voices.

Books build empathy, spark innovation, and fuel community growth. The library stands firm in protecting this fundamental right. Your library works every day to ensure our branches remain safe spaces for all perspectives.
