Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery 1440 Inway Drive Anderson, SC 29621 On Wednesday May 20th, 2026 at 1:00 pm Watkins Garrett & Woods Mortuary in Greenville, SC is assisting the family

Mr. Leroy Cruel
August 14, 1948 — May 8, 2026
Easley
Mr. Leroy Cruel, 77, of Easley, husband to Sheryn Cruel, transitioned on Friday, May 8, 2026, at his residence. Born in Travelers Rest, SC; he was the son of the late Lindsey Hunt and Sarah Louise Cruel Griffin.

Surviving: in addition to his wife of the home, his granddaughter, Tkeyah Taylor, of Greenville, SC; two sisters, Sarah Frances Young and Hazel Young, both of Greenville, SC; one brother, Doug (Vicky) Griffin, of Greenville, SC; one granddaughter, one great-grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Arrangements are incomplete.

Obituary For Mr. John Thorne, Jr.
John Thorne, Jr., resident of Rock Hill, South Carolina, died at his home on Saturday, April 18, 2026. He was born November 11, 1944, in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

The visitation will take place on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Parker Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Family and friends are cordially invited to gather on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at VFW Post 3746, located at 1404 Crawford Road, Rock Hill, South Carolina 29730. The service will commence at 1:00 p.m. at the same venue.

The interment will be held at Grandview Memorial Park, located at 620 S. Cherry Road, Rock Hill, South Carolina 29732.

Please include in your prayers the family of Arthur J (jud) Pardue Jud lost his wife of 61 years on Saturday March 21st, 2026 Yaeko Pardue lived for 91 years and would have been 92 in just a few days.. Her service will be this Thursday March 26th 2026 at Lake Wateree Presbyterian Church 3257 Windmill Rd Ridgeway, SC at 11am Arthur(JUD) is a life member of Lake Wateree VFW Post 8346 Please lift this family up to the Lord in your prayers during this time of grief.

J. Francis Carlisle Award Most Outstanding Post Chaplain-of-the-Year
AWARDED TO PROVIDE RECOGNITION TO A POST CHAPLAIN WHO PROVIDES EXEMPLARY SERVICE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS.
CRITERIA 1. Chaplain must be the chairman of the Post "Visiting Veterans" committee. 2. Chaplain must visit and comfort the sick, disabled, or shut-in veterans of the Post and Community. 3. Chaplain must provide spiritual guidance to veterans or a family member (s) of a veteran in need. 4. Chaplain must be the Chairman of any memorial service including Memorial Day. 5. Chaplain, if able, must attend all Post meetings. The Department Chaplain will judge this award basing his/her decision on the overall services, as stated above, to veterans and their families. Nomination letters can be submitted by any member in good standing at the Post or District levels to: VFWSC
