Since 1995, Bluegrass Land Conservancy has protected over 38,000 acres of land in 26 counties in KY!

Bluegrass Land Conservancy is the largest regional, accredited land trust in Kentucky, and spans Kentucky's two most populated metropolitan areas, covering the very best farmland in the Commonwealth, with over 30,000 acres of land already protected. BLC protects the Bluegrass region for current and future generations, with a focus on prime farmland soils, scenic open space, water resources, natural areas, rural heritage, and, of course, agricultural viability.

🌳Kentucky is full of trees worth celebrating.

White oak. Tulip poplar. Flowering dogwood. Sycamore.

Then there's the pawpaw with its big leaves and an unforgettable fruit.💚

And the Kentucky coffeetree, with distinctive bark, chunky seed pods, and fascinating history.

These trees are more than beautiful. They provide habitat, protect soil and streams, support wildlife, and help define the landscapes we work to conserve.

Because conservation isn’t just about protecting land. It’s about nurturing what makes that land special.

🌳 It’s Tree Week! From Lexington to Louisville, Tree Week is a celebration of the trees, forests, and green spaces that make Kentucky special, as well as the people working together to protect them.

At Bluegrass Land Conservancy, we know that conserving land means conserving the trees, woodlands, streams, and wildlife habitat that sustain our communities for generations to come. We’re grateful to be part of a growing network of organizations championing Kentucky’s trees and natural landscapes.

💚 A big Tree Week shoutout to Live Green Lexington and the Lexington Tree Week planning committee, and to TreesLouisville for bringing communities together around trees! Stay tuned this week as we highlight all things "trees" in the Bluegrass!

There’s no better time to celebrate what makes the Bluegrass so special. From the horses on the track to the farms and rolling landscapes beyond it, Kentucky’s equestrian heritage is deeply connected to the land.

Bluegrass Land Conservancy works to protect the farms, forests, and open spaces that give our region its character and help keep these landscapes part of Kentucky’s future.
