No hurricane could stop us!

This year’s SLSA Grill and Chill took us to Grayson Lake in Eastern Kentucky for kayaking, boat rides, grilling, and plenty of chilling. The forecast may have caused a stir, but we still had the time of our lives!

Despite the weather, everyone was determined to make the most of our last outing of the year. It’s this enthusiasm, dedication, and sense of togetherness that make our SLSA community stronger.

Heartfelt congratulations to all our members who celebrated the completion of their Master’s and PhD degrees on May 8th and 9th. Your achievements are a testament to your hard work, resilience, and dedication, and we are truly honored to celebrate this milestone with you.

👏 We are especially proud to recognize:

• Dr. Sashen Ruhunage on the successful defense of his PhD dissertation titled “Elucidating the Impacts of Non-Covalent Interactions in Organic Materials through a Multiscale Computational Approach.”

• Dr. Udara Wickramarathne on the successful defense of her dissertation titled “Targeting Intrinsically Disordered Proteins with Ligand-Guided Gold(III)-Mediated Covalent Chemistry.”

✨ Roots to Wings 2025 – Making a Difference Together ✨

Thanks to the funds raised through membership fees, the Kroger Field cleaning fundraiser, and your generous personal donations, our newest charity initiative, Roots to Wings 2025, was successfully carried out.

With your incredible support, we were able to provide stationery vouchers to 15 students from Jinaraja Girls’ School and Buddhist College, Gampola. 📚✏️

Your contributions have directly empowered these students and made a meaningful impact on their educational journey.

Together, we are nurturing roots and giving wings to future dreams. 💙
