Alex Mooney Memorial Scholarship

The Morgan Horse Foundation, Inc. (MHF) will award a minimum of $5,000 annually for undergraduate Academic Scholarships and/or Professional Development in Alex Mooney's memory.

The application deadline is June 30, 2025. Recipients will be notified by September 1. The winner or winners will be recognized at the Grand National & World Championship Morgan Horse Show® in October.

Amanda Hill Young Breeder's Incentive Grant

The Amanda Hill Young Breeders Incentive Grant is designed to help young Morgan breeders achieve their breeding dreams. It may be awarded annually to a young AMHA member (under the age of 40) who is establishing a breeding program intended to strengthen the quality of the Morgan breed. Amanda had a vision that recognized the need for younger generations to continue these breeding programs so that the love of the Morgan horse could be shared from generation to generation.

The application period for 2025 is now open! The deadline to apply is Friday, June 13, 2025 (end of day - 5 p.m. Eastern). Applications received after the deadline will NOT be eligible.

Morgan Horse Foundation, Inc. established

The newly formed Morgan Horse Foundation, Inc. (MHF) is a non-profit corporation incorporated in the state of Delaware (home residence of Kentucky) and is designated by the IRS as a 501c3 organization. The newly formed foundation accepted all assets and duties from the recently dissolved American Morgan Horse Educational Charitable Trust (AMHECT). The Foundation will continue to operate all scholarship/grant programs and be the charitable and educational arm of our industry. Per the Foundation’s formation documents, it was formed to support the AMHA and the sole member of the Foundation is The American Morgan Horse Association, Inc.

AMHECT offers several grants to our members to further their education and skills. The application for three of those grants is now open with the deadline to apply of November 30.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗸 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽: Eligible: AMHA members (any age) wishing to further their skill or proficiency in classically ridden dressage, moving from the lower levels to fourth level and above utilizing Morgan horses.

Tucker Murdough Awarded Sebring Grant Funds

The American Morgan Horse Educational Charitable Trust (AMHECT) congratulates Tucker Murdough of Essex Junction, Vermont on being selected to receive the Harry Sebring Memorial Grant.

Tucker requested funds to assist him in completing an eight-week Professional Horseshoeing Course at the Oklahoma Horseshoeing School and acknowledges there is a true shortage of farriers for our show horse industry.

Tucker’s desire to pursue this career fits perfectly with Harry’s desire to see young adults excel personally and professionally within our Morgan horse industry.

ATTENTION YOUNG MORGAN BREEDERS!

American Morgan Horse Educational Charitable Trust is proud to be accepting applications for the Amanda Hill Young Breeders Incentive Grant. This new grant celebrates the memory of Amanda Hill and her connection with the equine industry. Amanda was instrumental in the establishment of AMHA’s Young Adult Alliance and was a strong supporter of the annual Morgan Stallion Sweeps held at the New England Morgan Horse Show. Combining these two passions, this grant was created in Amanda’s name to ensure her work and passion for the Morgan industry lives on in the areas where her personal connection ran deep.

The 2023 grant will offer $2,500 to a young AMHA member (under the age of 40) who is establishing a breeding program intended to strengthen the quality of the Morgan breed.
