Thoroughbred Classic 5K Thanksgiving Day 5K in Lexington, Kentucky Originally run in September as a 10K, the Club changed the distance to a 5K and moved the race to Thanksgiving.

In 1984, the Bluegrass Runners, Kentucky’s first (and therefore oldest!) running club, hosted their first edition of their marquee event, the Thoroughbred Classic. Since then, every Thanksgiving morning, runners and walkers from across the country come to Lexington, Kentucky to take part in the Thoroughbred Classic 5K and Kay Collins Memorial Mile. Still organized and presented locally by the Bluegrass Runners, the Thoroughbred Classic is a family-friendly event whose main purpose is to benefit several local charities. 2015’s race had the largest attendance in its 30-plus-year history, allowing the Bluegrass Runners to present over $37,000 in donations.

Stroller squad, assemble! 🚶‍♀️ To avoid any tantrums (from kids and adults alike) and ensure a fun race experience for all: 👉 A $5 untimed bib is required for each tiny human's ride. Grab one during registration or on race day! 📝 👉 Stroller gang, please start at the back of the pack (behind all the speedy runners and walkers). We don't want any wheel-related drama on the course! 🏃‍♀️ 👉 And, let's be real, stroller parents are responsible for not causing any course chaos. Deal? 🤝

Is your furry BFF invited to the party? 🐾🎉
Short answer - YAAAS! 😂 Safety first, people! A $5 untimed bib is a must-purchase for each pup. Grab it during registration or on race day. You and your four-legged friend must start in the designated doggy area, behind all the non-furry folks. You're in charge of your pup's antics, so keep them on a tight leash (NOT retractable, sorry!) and don't ruin the fun for others. 🐾💕
