Community is strongest when we work together.

Saturday’s Back to School Bash was a great example of what can happen when organizations unite around a common purpose supporting our youth.

The Brothers of Chi Nu Nu Chapter, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., joined forces with the YMCA, The 7025, St. Mary’s Caring, the St. Mary’s Black History Coalition, and St. Mary’s County Public Schools to help ensure students began the new school year with the supplies and support they need to succeed.

This is what community partnership looks like. Different organizations, different missions, but one shared commitment to investing in the next generation.

Thank you to every volunteer, donor, organizer, and community member who gave their time, resources, and energy to make this event a success. Your generosity made a meaningful difference for local families.

Together, we are building more than backpacks—we are building opportunity, confidence, and a stronger future for the children of St. Mary’s County.

🏈 Touchdown… Guns Down! 🏈

Our youth deserve opportunities, positive role models, and safe communities. That’s exactly what Touchdown Guns Down is all about.

Join us on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Lancaster Park in Lexington Park, Maryland, for a day dedicated to empowering our youth through football, mentorship, and community engagement.

The day begins with a Youth Skills Event led by Coach DJ and Coach Pudge, where young athletes can sharpen their football skills while learning the importance of discipline, teamwork, and leadership. The excitement continues with the SMFFL All-Star Game as the league’s top players take on our First Responders in a game that celebrates unity and strengthens the bond between our community and those who serve it.

In addition to football, attendees will have access to valuable community resources, including:
🔒 Gun locks and gun safety information
❤️ Health and wellness resources
🏃 YMCA information
🍽️ Food and refreshments

This event is proudly presented by Grinding Academy and Reach Back & Lift 1, in partnership with the St. Mary’s County Health Department, Knights to Kings SoMD, Chi Nu Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and other community partners who are committed to creating safer neighborhoods and brighter futures for our youth.

Together, we can make a difference—one child, one family, and one community at a time.

Thank you to Jennifer Lehn for hosting the members of Xi Nu Nu Chapter and several community partners on a hard hat tour of the new YMCA facility.

We appreciate the opportunity to learn more about the project and look forward to providing additional information about the mentoring program currently in development.
