According to Christian Solidarity Worldwide, travelers entering Nicaragua are reportedly prohibited from carrying Bibles, along with other books and printed materials—a restriction that human rights advocates say has been enforced for several months.

Rights organizations claim the measure is part of a broader crackdown under President Daniel Ortega’s government, which has reportedly shut down churches and Christian ministries, imprisoned or exiled clergy, and increasingly targeted religious expression.

Advocates warn that the policy represents a serious escalation in the suppression of both religious freedom and free speech.
