Happy Flag Day, Scouts! 🇺🇸

Today, June 14, we celebrate the Stars and Stripes, our enduring symbol of freedom, resilience, and the American spirit.

The American flag was officially born on June 14, 1777, when the Continental Congress resolved that the flag of the United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white, with thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation. What began as 13 stars for the original colonies has grown with our nation, now featuring 50 stars for our 50 states, while the 13 stripes remain to honor our founding.

Every element of our flag carries deep meaning:

• Red stands for valor and courage.
• White symbolizes purity and innocence.
• Blue represents vigilance, perseverance, and justice.

The stars remind us that we are one nation, united under a common purpose. The stripes tell the story of our beginning and the unyielding strength that has carried us forward through every challenge.

As Scouts, we live by the Oath to do our duty to God and our country. The true power of our flag is not just in its colors or design. It is in the lives it represents. For more than 248 years, brave Americans, including many Scouts and Scouters, have answered the call to defend the freedoms this flag embodies. From the Revolutionary War to today, countless heroes have laid down their lives so we might live in liberty.

Too often we take these freedoms for granted, the right to speak, to worship, to dream, and to serve. Today, let us remember that our flag flies because of their sacrifice. It waves over every American cemetery where heroes rest, and it stands as a solemn promise that their service will never be forgotten.

So as you see Old Glory waving today, let it stir pride in your heart. Teach your fellow Scouts and younger siblings what it stands for. Honor those who protected it. And recommit yourself to being a worthy guardian of the freedoms it represents, just as a Scout should.

God bless our troops, our veterans, our fallen heroes, and God bless the United States of America.

Happy Flag Day, Scouts! Do a Good Turn and fly the flag high! 🇺🇸

Our Scouts completed a meaningful service project this weekend at Hidden Lake Farms.

The project had three main parts:

Part 1: Horse Barn Cleanup

We returned to the horse barn after last month’s Spring Family Camp and made it better than we found it. Scouts are known for leaving places better than we find them, and this time was no exception. Not only did we clean up our own mess, we swept, tidied, and thoroughly cleaned the entire barn.

Part 2: Trail Clearing Along the Scout Obstacle Course

We cleared and refreshed the trail around the Scout Obstacle Course, an Eagle Scout service project from years ago that has brought joy to countless Cub Scouts and Scouts from many local units. Our own Scouts have spent many happy hours conquering its challenges, and it was great to give this special part of the property the care it deserves.

Part 3: Replacing the Bridging Bridge

We replaced the old, weathered Bridging Bridge located in the clearing near the obstacle course. For years, many Scouts have proudly walked across this ceremonial bridge as they advanced from one rank to the next. Cub Scouts have also used it to “cross over” into their new Troops. While it served us well, the bridge had become unsafe. We’re proud to have built a sturdy new bridge in its place so future Scouts can continue this special tradition safely.

Afterwards we all met up at Whataburger and continued the scout fellowship and had a celebratory lunch at Whataburger.

A huge job well done to all the Scouts who showed up and gave their best! This is what Scouting is all about: service, teamwork, and leaving a positive impact on the places we love.

Scout Troop 9168 honors the brave D-Day heroes!

Today we remember the courageous men who stormed the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944, helping bring an end to World War II in Europe. Their courage and sacrifice changed the course of history forever.

By 1944, N**i Germany had conquered much of Europe. The Allies, primarily the United States, Britain, and Canada, launched a massive cross-Channel invasion called Operation Overlord under the leadership of General Dwight D. Eisenhower. Through careful planning and clever deception, they caught the Germans off guard.

On D-Day, approximately 156,000 Allied troops landed across five beaches: Utah and Omaha (American), Gold and Sword (British), and Juno (Canadian). Supported by thousands of ships, aircraft, and airborne divisions, they faced Rommel’s heavily fortified Atlantic Wall with its bunkers, machine guns, mines, and experienced troops. Paratroopers dropped inland during the night, followed by dawn beach assaults under intense enemy fire. Omaha Beach saw some of the fiercest fighting, but by nightfall the Allies had secured a vital foothold.

The cost was devastating, over 10,000 Allied casualties on the first day alone, with thousands killed. These young men charged into hellish combat, many never making it home.

They are known as the Greatest Generation for surviving the Great Depression and then sacrificing everything to defeat fascism, showing unmatched duty, resilience, and unity that saved the free world.

As Scouts, we pledge to live by their example, practicing courage, service, honor, and preparedness in our own lives every day. To those heroes of Normandy, we owe our freedom. We will never forget your bravery.

Yesterday our Scouts and Scouters rolled up our sleeves and showed Lewisville what Scout spirit looks like! Under the Keep Lewisville Beautiful Adopt-A-Spot program, we hit our stretch of roadway and turned it into a cleaner, prouder place.

We had a blast working together, collecting plenty of actual trash while constantly getting tricked by mushrooms popping up everywhere! We’d spot one, think “trash!”… then realize it was still attached to the ground and very much alive. 😂 One Scout even discovered a dead rat and wisely decided to leave it alone to biodegrade naturally, true Leave No Trace in action!

Nothing beats fresh air, good friends, teamwork, and the satisfaction of leaving our community better than we found it. We’re proud to live the Scout Oath and do our duty, one bag of litter at a time.

Today, we pause to observe Memorial Day, a solemn holiday dedicated to honoring the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who gave their lives in defense of our nation. It is not a day for barbecues or celebrations alone. It is first and foremost a day of gratitude and reflection.

Memorial Day reminds us of the true cost of freedom. Liberty is not free. It has been purchased with the blood, courage, and ultimate sacrifice of generations of American service members. These heroes answered the call when our country needed them most, standing against tyranny, protecting our homes, our families, and the sacred rights we hold dear.

Our freedoms, the ability to speak, worship, gather, and live as we choose, are preserved only through the willingness of courageous individuals to defend them. Without such brave souls, those freedoms would wither. That is why we must never take them for granted.

As Scouts, we live by the Scout Oath and Law, which call us to be dutiful, brave, loyal, and to help others. Honoring our fallen is part of that duty. By keeping their memory alive through flag placements, stories of their service, and teaching the next generation, we ensure their sacrifices continue to inspire and protect the America we love.

Today, let us reflect with reverence, offer our thanks, and renew our own commitment to live honorably. May we always remember those who paid the highest price so that we might enjoy the blessings of liberty.

Happy Memorial Day, Scouts.
Let us carry their legacy forward with grateful hearts.

Last Day of School, Scouts!

Attention Troop! The final bell has rung, the lockers are slammed shut, and another school year has officially been conquered!

Congratulations, you absolute legends! You survived endless homework, group projects that tested your patience more than any wilderness survival course, and somehow still found time to earn merit badges, lead patrols, and show the world what real Scout Spirit looks like. You’ve grown stronger, wiser, and (hopefully) smellier from all those campouts. We are seriously proud of every single one of you!

Now ditch those textbooks faster than a beaver drops a tree and get ready for the main event: SUMMER CAMP!

It’s time to trade math class for swimming holes, alarm clocks for reveille (sorry about that one), and cafeteria mystery meat for slightly-burned campfire s’mores. Prepare for epic hikes where the trail always goes uphill both ways, late-night ghost stories that are 100% true (probably), and fellowship with your Scout family that includes questionable fashion choices, mosquito bites as badges of honor, and memories that’ll make you laugh for years.

So go make this the best summer yet — get wet, get dirty, get exhausted in the best possible way, and come back with stories that start with “You’ll never believe what happened when…”

Happy Last Day of School, Scouts!

May your summer be filled with adventure, zero pop quizzes, and maximum fun.

Yours in Scouting,
Troop 9168

Huge congratulations to every scout who graduated to the next rank - we’re so proud of you!

Now it’s time for summer adventures before we gear up for even bigger things next year. Keep exploring, keep learning, and keep being awesome!

Pack 9168 Spring Family Camp
Hidden Lake Farm Adventure!
May 16th - 17th, 2026

This past weekend, Pack 9168 headed out to Hidden Lake Farm in Bartonville, Texas for our Spring Family Camp, and it was an absolute blast! From great scout fellowship and delicious camp food to nonstop outdoor adventures, the whole pack made some fantastic memories.

Assistant Cubmaster Mr. Jarvis kicked things off with an epic Geocaching quest! He hid 13 clever caches across the property, each with its own fun name, latitude and longitude coordinates, and creative hints. The scouts split into two teams and set off on the hunt. Both teams crushed it, finding nearly every cache and racing neck and neck to the finish. Big smiles and high fives all around!

The rest of the day was pure scout fun. Everyone explored the woods, tackled the awesome obstacle course built from Eagle Projects, and played all kinds of games down by the lake. They stayed sharp dodging patches of poison ivy (thanks to a quick refresher from the adults on how to spot the sneaky stuff), cooled off in the beautiful horse barn, and soaked up every minute of that beautiful spring day. By the time they crawled into their tents that night, every scout was worn out in the best way possible and fast asleep in no time.

Sunday morning brought more excitement! Mr. Oilheyser took the scouts down to the lake for some early fishing. Many of them were first timers, and the excitement was huge when every scout hooked a fish, nice big largemouth bass! After a few proud photos and cheers, we released them all back into the lake to swim another day.

Before heading home, we packed up camp and gathered in the big field for our Pack 9168 tradition: the Rose and Thorn circle. Everyone, scouts and adults, shared their favorite moments (the roses) and any challenges (thorns… but no complaining about the weather!). The roses won by a landslide, which says everything about how awesome the weekend was.

What a fantastic campout! Thanks to all the leaders and families who made it happen. Can’t wait to see everyone at the next meeting on Tuesday, Pack 9168!

Adventure awaits --> keep exploring! 🏕️🎣🌲

Attention all Scout Brothers and Sisters!

Gather round the virtual campfire because we have some epic news to share! Our very own Eagle Scout Brenden Bunk is crossing a major trail milestone. He will graduate from Krum High School this Sunday May 17 2026 at 2:00 pm sharp at the University of North Texas Coliseum.

Brenden has been blazing trails in Scouting since his Tiger days in Pack 729 all the way to earning that proud Eagle rank in Troop 9168. Now this adventure loving Scout is gearing up for the ultimate quest. Right after graduation he ships off to boot camp to begin his Army journey where he aims to earn his Ranger tab and serve our country with the kind of courage and honor that would make any Scout proud. Some of his bravest deeds we may never even hear about but we know he will tackle them with a smile and a “Be Prepared” attitude.

The Bunk family would love nothing more than to see a big group of Scout brothers and sisters cheering him on as he receives his diploma. Come help us celebrate this double header of monumental occasions. Bring your Scout spirit your widest grin and maybe even a patrol yell or two.

Congratulations Mr Bunk on every badge every hike every good turn and every goal you have smashed so far. We are with you in spirit as you step boldly into the next chapter. The trail ahead is full of challenge and glory and we cannot wait to watch you conquer it.

Hope to see you on Sunday.
Yours in Scouting

Happy Mother’s Day to all our incredible Scout Moms!

To the moms who make Scouting possible: thank you. You’re the ones driving to troop meetings, helping earn merit badges at the kitchen table, packing lunches for campouts, cheering at Court of Honor ceremonies, and washing muddy uniforms at 10 o’clock at night. You handle the forgotten permission slips, the last-minute Pinewood Derby repairs, and still show up with a smile and extra snacks for everyone.

You teach patience, encourage adventure, and quietly model what it means to live the Scout Oath and Law every single day. While your Scouts are learning to be prepared, you’re the steady, loving force making it all happen behind the scenes.

Today we celebrate you, the heart of our Scout families. Thank you for your endless support, your strength, and your love. You don’t just raise Scouts… you help raise the next generation of leaders.
Have a beautiful Mother’s Day! 💐
