A Growing Relationship Towards Great Opportunities
Spika Design & Manufacturing has been a long time dedicated supporter of the Boys & Girls Club of Lewistown, and in the spring of 2026, their generosity reached new heights with the donation of a one-of-a-kind custom greenhouse for the Club’s very first Great Greenhouse Raffle fundraiser.
What began as an idea for the Boys & Girls Club’s 24th Annual Festival of Trees in late 2025 soon evolved into something much bigger.
Originally intended to be featured as part of the Festival of Trees celebration, the custom-built greenhouse faced unexpected shipping delays and time constraints that prevented it from being completed in time for the event. However, true to the innovative and solution-oriented spirit that defines Spika Design & Manufacturing, the team refused to let the project fade away.
After stepping in with a last-minute pivot and an incredible replacement contribution for the 2025 Festival of Trees, lead fabricator Mike and the Spika Manufacturing team decided the greenhouse itself still deserved an opportunity to benefit local youth. That decision ultimately became the inspiration for the Great Greenhouse Raffle.
Now, in May 2026, the Victorian-inspired masterpiece is completed and prepared to make its debut to the community. Featuring elegant details including a Fleur-de-lis decorated roofline, the handcrafted greenhouse measures 11 feet wide by 8 feet long and stands at an impressive 14 feet tall. The structure also includes a solar-powered battery and inverter system, blending timeless craftsmanship with practical modern functionality.
While someone unfamiliar with Spika Design & Manufacturing may see this as a remarkable one-time act of generosity, those who know the company understand that community investment is deeply woven into its culture.
Several of Spika’s core values include Make It Better, Be Great Together, and Build Our Community, values they continue to demonstrate through meaningful action year after year. From their annual Day of Service initiative, where employees are paid to assist local organizations with projects that might otherwise never get completed, to the ongoing work of the Spika Foundation supporting nonprofit needs and community improvements, the company has built a reputation for giving back in impactful and lasting ways. Spika employees also participate in highway cleanups, host manufacturing education days for youth, and mentor high school interns exploring careers in skilled trades and manufacturing.
For the Boys & Girls Club of Lewistown, fundraisers like the Great Greenhouse Raffle help ensure local youth continue to have access to affordable afterschool and summer programming in a rural region where opportunities can otherwise be limited. Funds raised help support educational programming, healthy meals and snacks, staffing, transportation, and enrichment opportunities for hundreds of area children and teens each year.
In many ways, the greenhouse itself has become a reflection of what makes communities like Lewistown special: craftsmanship, perseverance, creativity, and neighbors coming together to invest in the next generation.
