Lewiston Area Historical Society

Lewiston Area Historical Society The Lewiston Area Historical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the history of the Lewiston, Michigan area.

The Lewiston Area Historical Society is located in a house museum located at the corner of Michelson Avenue and Kneeland Street. The home was built in 1892 by David Kneeland, manager of the Michelson & Hanson Lumber company. When the mill closed in 1910, the house was sold to George and Martha Sachs. Members of that family lived there for 85 years. The dwelling was gifted to the historical society by the Sachs family and opened as a museum on May 25, 1996.
