Each week of Tree Street’s Summer Program has a theme. Art week 🎨🖌️🖼️ 🎭🎥 this past July was truly one to remember! The week kicked off with an extraordinary opportunity to virtually meet and speak with the inspiring and incredible artist MIKE NORICE! whose renowned work and story is featured in the documentary Artfully United. Our youth not only viewed the documentary but then spent the week exploring murals across our Lewiston community and in Rockland with our partners in connection with The Landing Place. Additionally they then visited the Portland Museum of Art! Throughout the week they also made art designing themselves as super heroes and visioning for their own collective mural to inspire our own community!!

Thank you truly to all who made this memorable and inspirational week possible! 💙🌲☀️🎨✨

This summer was full of what we call Novel Experiences! One of the greatest was an absolute first for Tree! Thanks to our friends at the incredible Riding To The Top Therapeutic Riding Center our youth were able to greet, pet, groom, and learn about horses this summer! They brought 2 of their miniature horses to visit us at the center!! Over 95% of the youth who engaged had never seen up close or touched a horse before! 💙🌲🐎🐴🙌☀️

Thanks to all who made this opportunity possible! Shout out to former founding board chair Betty Robinson for joining us and also for being an avid volunteer and supporter to both Tree and Riding to the Top! We can’t wait to continue building this partnership!

We are proud and a bit sad to invite everyone to our end of summer Tree-B-Q on Thursday at 3:00 to say farewell and see you later to our beloved Keenan and Angela!!! Come grab a snack and help us send them off! All are welcome!

We are super proud of them!! Angela will be starting her masters program and Keenan will be taking a short sabbatical in Italy before his next adventure!!

Both Keenan and Angela have been at Tree Street since they graduated from Bates College!!! We will miss them both dearly and are so proud that they will be going out to the world exemplifying leaders who fear less, love more, and dream bigger!! Thank you both for loving Tree and our Lewiston community!

Maine MILL's new museum (MILL stands for Museum of Innovation Learning and Labor!) was 10 years in the making and just officially opened at the end of June!

Maine MILL invited our youth to their space in a multi-week field trip series to be one of the very first groups to experience the new museum!

Youth went on a tour of their new museum gallery that included interactive and technology-based exhibits. The tour was then followed by a facilitated activity about pattern making in their new classroom space, where youth got to create their own bandana patterns.

We're grateful to Maine MILL for welcoming us to their space!

Check out some of our favorite photos from these field trips!

Today many said their goodbyes to this incredible young man lost too soon. Though Siloe became connected with Tree just towards the end of his senior year, the impact he had on us and so many others will never be forgotten.

Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends. We pray for peace beyond understanding for all. 🙏💙🌲🕊️Love to all across the community today and always.
