Our thanks to a very special friend of the MCA for her donation to our Book Fairy project - this is how you jumpstart a program folks! A thousand miles from Maine and still wanted to help! Gosh we have made some amazing friendships in my ten years here!

Over the past 6 weeks, I've been quietly working on a project that at first didn't seem in the realm of the MCA but as I began to understand the concept and its founder in Maine I saw an amazing opportunity for the MCA members to become leaders in your communities and open your doors to even more people, some of whom may never walk through a Chiropractic Office otherwise - and thats always a good thing.
And so, today I became Maine's newest Book Fairy! (no funny comments needed) Pam Leo runs a program statewide that collects new and gently used board books (those hard cardboard type books for children) and helps recirculate them to underserved and needy children in our communities. When I spoke with her, the biggest challenge was our land mass as a state - how can she gather books and get them distributed? That's where you come in.
We are looking for any office who has a small space, a corner, a shelf or other spot where people can stop by and drop off books to later be collected by her volunteers. For those offices that can, additionally you might offer to wipe down the pages with a handi wipe to sanitize them. The MCA will be creating a space on our website where people can find the locations for drop off and collection right on our main page.
So if your office has space available and would like to be part of this important program, please let me know and we will add you to that search engine as we build it. For those offices who do participate we have the chiropractic brochures series you might wish to display nearby if anyone stops by who might not be a patient.
In the next week or so I will get out an information sheet you can share with patients on the types of books we are looking for that you can copy and share with staff and patients.
Lastly, here's our logo for the project, hot off the presses at MCA world headquarters.
