A pair of mismatched shoes might be a style statement for some, but for this man it was a substance statement.

As in…he lacked the substance of the mates to either pair of shoes. In fact, he lacked the material substance of almost everything.

Many of us might think ourselves destitute if we wore shoes that didn’t leave the factory in the same box, but this man laughed it off and considered himself blessed to have shoes at all.

He departed from us with a good bit more than matching shoes, but what he left behind for us was a shining example of grace and gratitude.

***UPDATE.*** Our HUB will be CLOSED again today—Thursday, October 8—and will reopen for donations, food/hygiene assistance, and counseling on Saturday, October 10, from 10 am-2 pm.

Our clothing closet will remain closed until further notice as we make repairs to the building caused by a serious leak following last Friday’s rain.

Can you help supply our pantry so that we are ready for the huge demand that is sure to accompany our reopening?

A huge HOPEtown thanks to Cornersville United Methodist Church for their equally huge donation of laundry detergent! CUMC has been partnering with us in many ways for many years, and all those ways over all those years are deeply appreciated.

The presence of a SERVPRO van typically means…well, you know what it means. Wind or rain or fire or some other damaging force has paid an unannounced and unwelcomed visit.

In our case, it was the rain this past Friday.

We have had to be closed this week to deal with the storm’s aftermath, and we appreciate (1) your patience and (2) the professionalism of ServPro in helping us assess the damage and begin remediation and repair.

Watch this page to see when our HUB on Nashville Highway will be open again. We hope we can reopen, at least for limited services, before the end of the week.

Thank you, LifeSong Family Church, for this creative and generous effort! We will make sure each coat gets to someone who needs it.

Help us spread the hope of Jesus and the warmth of Christmas this year!

From October 4 through November 22 we'll be collecting gently used or new winter coats in preparation for a unique and immersive Christmas experience.

Following the conclusion of our Christmas series, these coats will all go to our friends at HOPEtown for distribution to those in need of a bit more warmth this winter.

Donation bins will be available in our lobby throughout the collection period.

We love all donations…especially ones that donors insist on remaining anonymous. Glory to God for this astonishingly generous donation from a someone who wanted nothing more than the opportunity to help us help others.

She was telling us her story so swiftly and with such urgency that her capped tooth literally fell out of her mouth while she was speaking.

We’ve seen nearly everything that can be seen over the last decade, but this was a first for us.

Oh, the blessings we take for granted.
Oh, the challenges people face.

It’s never bad to do good, and it’s never wrong to do right. Our thanks to a diligent crew from Grove Hill Church who did good and right this morning in helping us clean up a pair of yards of long-time widows who recently passed away themselves.

It’s never hard to find good work to do, folks. We simply have to show up and do it.
