Team CJ for Autism

Team CJ for Autism Acceptance is an action! In May 2014 our new group took on River Towns Half & Full Marathon to raise money and awareness for autism.

Each runner made a commitment to raise at least $100. The money covered their registration and team shirt with remaining proceeds donated to Geisinger Autism & Developmental Medicine Institute and the Operation Jack Autism Foundation. That year we raised over $7500! In 2015 we teamed up in May to run River Towns Half & Full Marathon and then in October to run the Runner's World Half & Festival. Th

at year we raised another $11,700 for ADMI, Operation Jack, and Camp Emerge! Once again in 2016 we teamed up to run River Towns Half Marathon in May and we raised $7,600 for Geisinger ADMI and the Operation Jack Autism Foundation. We returned to River Towns twice more in 2017 and 2018 raising a combined $10,000. River Towns discontinued the race after 2018, so in 2019 something new was born- Team CJ for KIDS!!!, a youth triathlon team for autistic youth and their siblings. This team is funded by proceeds from CJ's Resolution Challenge as well as grants in years 2019 and 2022 from the USA Triathlon Foundation.

We're gearing up for Season 5 of Swim, Bike, Run, GO TEAM!!!!! As always, happy to have volunteers! We will be practicing Monday and Thursday evenings beginning July 17th. Dress rehearsals are August 14 and 17. Race day is August 19 (rain date Aug 20).

First Light Community of Mobile (formerly L'Arche Mobile) has been creating beautiful, handcrafted canvases for our top runners for many years. I've had the pleasure of working with Bridget for each one. When I reached out to her this year, I let her know that this would be the last. She immediately understood how bittersweet this decision has been.

I wanted the canvases to focus on Cullen, so I sent her some things for inspiration. She chose the drawing on the left that Cullen made in 1st grade. I totally bawled when I saw what the First Light Community members created. They're perfect.🌸

The whole team crossed that finish line. They were all amazing. My heart is full.
