Check out the trailer for the new movie coming out April 26th, Unsung Hero — this real-life story of the Smallbone family (For King and Country and Rebecca St. James) features strong themes of faith, family, and many of the values our Trail Life families hold dear. With a limited run in local theaters, this is a story you won't want your family to miss!

Last month, we rolled out our latest addition for troop communication and connection — a monthly newsletter, The Trail Mix!

Parents and leaders in our troop are sent this resource each month directly to their inbox or they can access it in our private group on Band.

We hope this digital tool will serve to keep our troop families up-to-date with all the incredible things happening within our troop — including the Rendezvous Recap (great for catching up if you've missed a week or want to see what older/younger Trailmen are up to), Court of Honors (celebrating the achievements of our boys along the way), special articles, and Chaplain's Campfire Chat.

April's edition of The Trail Mix will be hitting inboxes very soon!

Shoulder-to-shoulder discipleship — we've seen this lived out within the context of our troop time and time again. Give boys something active to do alongside each other and watch the conversation flow and connection flourish.

What's one of your favorite side-by-side ways to connect with your son?

Walk into any coffee shop, and the chances are high that you’ll see two women talking. Sitting across from each other, the women will look each other in the eye and discuss deep and personal issues.

You probably won’t see two men sitting and conversing in the same way. Why?

Well, as Dr. Emerson Eggerichs points out, it’s a matter of gender differences. Women prefer face to face communication, while men tend to prefer shoulder-to-shoulder discussions.

As a parent of a son, this is deeply valuable information for you to consider. When you’re concerned about your son and would like him to share his struggles, get beside him. Take a drive, hike together, or stand on a dock side-by-side and fish. Your boy will most likely prefer those settings over going to a coffee shop.

In mid-February, our Navigators and Adventurers competed against seven other Trail Life troops from surrounding areas at the Yukon Adventure.

Each Trailman spent the weeks leading up to the Yukon practicing their fire-starting techniques, ropework skills, reviewing first-aid protocols, and memorizing Scripture passages that coordinated with each competition event.

For those unfamiliar with this annual Trail Life tradition, the Yukon Adventure is an incredible weekend that tests the skills, endurance, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork of each patrol as they compete in events like:

+ Lashing
+ Firestarting + Outdoor Cooking
+ First-Aid and Rescue
+ Orienteering
+ Emergency Shelter Building

The weekend culminates in an epic sled race where patrols have to push and pull a fully loaded expedition-style sled (of their own design and construction) cross country!

We are proud to announce our boys' efforts paid off as they took home first place in the French Toast competition and second place for the weekend overall!

We love the Trail Hacks series from the Wild Brothers — grab your boys and take 5 minutes to watch this awesome how-to on hand-line fishing!

Boys need a place where it is safe to be a boy! A place of risk and adventure where courage and character are rewarded. A place they are free to conquer and explore.

A place where mud turns into war paint, a stick becomes a sword, and an impression in the ground just may be a telltale sign of a dragon they could tame if they only keep hunting.

Boys need a uniquely masculine program where their assertive, audacious, and adventurous nature is celebrated, not sequestered.

Join us in leading a generation of boys to become biblically bold and courageous men of character.

Join us as together we "guide generations of courageous young men to God, with integrity, others and outdoor adventure!"
