‼️ Long shot - but if the gentleman in this picture happens to look familiar please contact us immediately.

He decided to steal this trap today that was set for the poor little lost Boston Terrier seen at that location.

It was stolen from Shadow Lake apartments off Godown Rd.

Unfortunately we did not get his full
face in the picture

Please share to make him famous 👹

💕 Looking for a Two-for-One Love Story? 💕

Diesel and Truffles didn't come into rescue together, but somewhere along the way they became exactly what the other needed.

Diesel is the confident one. Truffles is the sensitive one.
When Truffles was learning that people could be trusted and the world wasn't so scary, Diesel showed her the way. When Diesel needed the comfort and reassurance of another dog, Truffles was right there beside him.

Today, they eat together, play together, nap together, and look for each other whenever they're apart. They've become best friends and each other's security blanket.

Diesel is a 31-pound 1 year old social butterfly who loves car rides, adventures, snuggles, other dogs, cats, and pretty much everyone he meets. Truffles is a 50-pound cuddle expert who has blossomed into a loving, playful girl who adores dogs, cats, and curling up beside her people. She is 1-2 years old.

Both are house trained, crate trained, affectionate, and wonderful companions. Most importantly, they have helped each other become the dogs they were always meant to be.

We know asking someone to adopt two dogs is a big request. But sometimes the perfect family gets twice the dog and twice the love.

If you've been thinking about adding a pair to your family, we'd love for you to meet these two. We have a feeling you'll understand their bond within minutes.

He doesn’t have much time. 💔

Not a day goes by that we don’t get a request to take a dog like this - This older boy was dumped, recovered by the property owner, and now has nowhere left to go.

He cannot stay where he currently is because he does not do well with the other male dogs in the home. Unfortunately, that means tomorrow he will likely enter the shelter system — a place where older dogs who need to be the only pet often struggle the most. He has been fine with the humans. Not cat tested yet.

What he really needs is simple:
🖤 A quiet home
🖤 A soft bed
🖤 Some toys
🖤 A person willing to give him a chance

He seems happiest carrying around his toys and being near his people. We know there is someone out there who has room in their home and heart for a dog like him. AND others like him.

Most of our foster homes already have dogs of their own, which is why we are desperately searching for fosters without other pets right now.
If you have ever considered fostering, this is the kind of dog who truly needs someone to step up. Rico Pet Recovery will cover all expenses.

Please apply at ricopetrecovery.org/foster if you can help save him. 🐾

THE PIT - Rico’s Animal Hospital Edition!

🚨 STAT! Dr. Eddie McPit is accepting new patients… and by patients, we mean a forever family. ❤️🐾

This handsome 2-year-old Chief of Snuggles graduated top of his class in unconditional love and is fully vetted, neutered, and up to date on vaccines.

Dr. Eddie’s specialties include:
✔ Excellent leash manners
✔ Housebroken & crate trained
✔ Professional-level snuggling
✔ Car ride expert
✔ Advanced sunbathing therapy

Eddie would do best as the only pet in the home and would love a fenced yard for important fetch and sunshine research. He has not been tested with toddlers, so a home with older children (10+) or adults would be ideal.

And the best part? His adoption fee is sponsored by a generous Rico supporter! 💙

Ready to admit Dr. Eddie McPit into your heart permanently?

Crated. Starved. And then abandoned to die.

📣 Heather has fought to survive and is now in need of a foster!

Named for her rescuer, Heather McCoy, Heather the dog has been hospitalized since Tuesday evening after she was found on the side of a backroad in southern Ohio. Too weak to walk, she had clearly been left there by her owner.

Emaciated and weak, she still struggles to walk with shaky legs and on paw pads that are raw and torn from hot asphalt.

Dr. Angie believes this dog was most likely confined to a small crate, not fed appropriately, and then abandoned to die on a secluded backroad. Heather is a 7-9 month-old, large-breed puppy and weighs only 44 pounds!

Heather has been dosed with NexGard and Capstar to take care of the fleas and ticks that were ravishing her already frail body. She has been given dewormer and probiotics, in addition to IV fluids, & pain medication.

So far f***l tests have been negative, which indicate that her diarrhea is a product of neglect and lack of adequate nutrition.

Heather has started a slow refeeding schedule with special dog food and will be ready to leave the hospital on Tuesday!

This sweet survivor is in need of a kind & sympathetic foster who can monitor her eating habits and help her go outside to potty.

Heather has been very sweet with all people, including children. Heather will need to be separated from other dogs during meal times—at least until she learns to trust that she will never be starved again.

The rescue will provide dog food and supplies. Apply to foster Heather at ricopetrecovery.org ❤️🐾

Are you ready for tomorrow? 🪩🥳

We’ll be at Eldorado's Food & Spirits at 6PM to start the 50/50 and silent auction.

The show will begin around 8:30–9 PM, so come early, grab some food and drinks, and help us make it a fun night for a great cause. 💙🐾

This special event was planned by an amazing group of ladies who wanted to raise funds to support our trapping efforts after we assisted with trapping a community dog.

We would love to see you there enjoying the evening alongside our volunteers while helping support the animals we work so hard to save.

Thank you to everyone who helped organize this event and to Eldorado’s for hosting us! 🍻

Today, May 20, was officially National Rescue Dog Day. 🐾

It’s a day dedicated to celebrating rescue dogs and raising awareness about adoption, fostering, and rescue organizations.

Kuga represents everything that is possible through rescue. 💙

Kuga first entered a county shelter where he was placed on the rescue-only list due to leash biting. Thanks to a dedicated group of shelter supporters, a foster stepped up, and Rico Pet Recovery was able to pull him to safety.

Just a few short weeks later, Kuga’s leash biting behavior had resolved, and he has blossomed into a happy, adoptable dog.

Kuga is an energetic, fun-loving boy who thrives on walks, runs, hikes, and playtime. He even competed in the 5K for K9s — finishing 5th out of hundreds of people and pups! 🏃‍♂️🐕

After he’s had his exercise, Kuga is perfectly content to relax with a bone and enjoy some downtime. He knows basic commands, is housebroken, and crate trained — though having his blankies in his crate is absolutely non-negotiable. 😉 He’s also a big fan of tennis balls!

Kuga hasn’t had extensive interaction with small children yet, but he has done well with them at adoption events. What we do know for certain is that he is a sweet, affectionate boy who lives for love, attention, and unlimited butt scratches.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who can keep up with your active lifestyle while also being your cuddle buddy at the end of the day, Kuga might just be your perfect match.

Meet Bear Bear 💙🐾

This beautiful girl is just under a year old and has the sweetest face and the most gorgeous eyes. 😍

Bear absolutely adores kids. She follows them everywhere, keeps them company, and even loves sleeping beside them at night. She is also great with cats and is adjusting to her doggie siblings. She is around 40 pounds.

Her foster says she is:
✔ House trained
✔ Gentle taking treats
✔ No food aggression
✔ Good on a leash
✔ Loves walks
✔ Does not rush the door
✔ Happiest being near her people

Bear is affectionate, loving, and easy to have around. She would do best in a home where she is not left alone for long hours, as she does experience some separation anxiety that we hope will continue improving with time, routine, and reassurance.

🩷You can apply to meet her at ricopetrecovery.org.

We did not think we would be here today asking for help again. How much can one little body take?

Last week, we took in two puppies that had been abandoned and attacked by another animal. Both suffered traumatic wounds, and the male puppy — affectionately called Puppy 1 — also suffered two broken legs.

After their wounds were stabilized, both puppies were transferred to VCA Sawmill for Dr. Beckett to repair Puppy 1’s legs.

But on surgery day, something didn’t seem right. Dr. Beckett tested both puppies for parvo… and both came back POSITIVE. Both puppies were considered guarded, with only a 25–50% chance of survival.

But these babies fought. And today, we are beyond grateful to say they BOTH pulled through. ❤️

Puppy 2 is expected to head to foster this week, but Puppy 1 still faces another hurdle — surgery to repair both broken legs.

This tiny puppy weighs less than 6 pounds. In his short life, he has endured more trauma and pain than most dogs experience in a lifetime. Yet every time his caretakers walk in, his tail wags and he is ready for love and attention.

This week he will undergo orthopedic surgery, and we are asking for help covering the cost of his care. Between emergency wound treatment, parvo hospitalization, and upcoming leg repair, Puppy 1’s medical expenses are expected to exceed $4,000.

We know we ask a lot. But because of your support, we are able to help animals who truly have no one else.

Once healed, Puppy 1 will join his sister in foster care, where his foster will give him a name and nurse him back to health.

If you would like to help Puppy 1 on his journey, donations can be made through Ricopetrecovery.org or attached links. Every dollar helps us continue saying YES to animals like these babies.
