What Local Food is Fresh This Month? ๐ŸŒฝ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿซ›

During the month of September, we say goodbye to our Summer staples and hello to our Fall favorites. Enjoy tomatoes and sweet corn early, and welcome leafy greens, sweet potatoes, and more later on, all locally grown by Delmarva farmers.

Check our website's "What's Fresh at the Market" pages to see what each of our vendors is bringing to Market each week.

Make the Market part of your weekly routine.๐Ÿ’š The HLFM thanks Georgia Tugend and Dave Fischbach for being Market Harvester Sponsors.

Georgia and Dave have called downtown Lewes home for 46 years, and Georgia is a fifth-generation Delawarean! They share a deep appreciation for farming as one of the most difficult yet rewarding occupations as both of their maternal grandparents were farmers.

For Georgia and Dave, the HLFM is also about community, sharing how "the Market allows us to see our neighbors and friends in person and connect in a very organic way." They appreciate the Market and its ability to bring together a variety of high-quality local producers in a beautiful setting while creating a place for the community to gather, especially for their favorite HLFM tradition of the Annual Tomato Festival!

Thank you to Georgia and Dave for supporting the HLFM and for being such a wonderful part of our Lewes community. ๐Ÿ’š

Thank you to Chefs Rachel Diener and Beau Fazio of Bodhi Kitchen for a fabulous Market Demo and for helping us celebrate Pepper Day at the Market! ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ

Chefs Rachel and Beau brought incredible flavors to the Demo Tent with their Blistered Shish*to Pepper and Cucumber Salad with Charred Peanuts and Chili Oil, featuring fresh basil, cucumbers, and shish*to peppers from Market farmers. It was a delicious celebration of the incredible variety and flavor of peppers at the height of the season! If you missed the demo, swipe for the recipe and try it at home while peppers and cucumbers are at their peak!

Thank you again to Bodhi Kitchen for sharing your time, talent, and love of local ingredients with our Market community. And thank you to our wonderful volunteers for their assistance, and to everyone who came out, watched, tasted, and continues to support the Market and our Demo Tent! Thanks to HLFM Volunteer Pam Sorce for the photos.

Choose to support local๐Ÿ’š The HLFM thanks the Cape Gazette for being a Market Harvester Sponsor.

For more than 33 years, the Cape Gazette has been dedicated to serving the communities of the Cape Region through independent, local journalism. Their commitment to the community extends beyond reporting the news, partnering with local nonprofits and community events through volunteer involvement, sponsored advertising, public service messaging, and financial support. Supporting the HLFM aligns with Cape Gazette's longstanding commitment to strengthening the communities they serve.

As Chris Rausch, publisher and owner of the Cape Gazette, shared, "We believe strong communities are built when people connect with one another and choose to support local. The Historic Lewes Farmers Market embodies those values, and we're proud to help promote an organization that enriches the quality of life for residents while investing in the people who grow and produce food right here in our region."

The HLFM is grateful to have the Cape Gazette as a partner in helping support the farmers, producers, and community that makes the Historic Lewes Farmers Market so special. Thank you for supporting the HLFM and our local community!
