Today, we remember Delaware State Police Corporal Stephen Ballard who died in the line of duty 7 years ago today, April 26, 2017. Corporal Ballard was a dedicated officer, active member in the community - but most importantly, a loving husband and father. Corporal Ballard's surviving family became a member of the T2T family with the payoff of their mortgage through the Tunnel to Towers Foundation's Fallen First Responder Program. May Corporal Ballard continue to rest in peace. 🖤💙🖤

Stephen’s Story

On September 11, 2001, 34-year old firefighter Stephen Siller took his final heroic steps as he ran with his gear strapped on his back through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the World Trade Center to help save others. The Tunnel to Towers Run in NYC retraces Stephen’s footsteps on that fateful day. In running along his path, we honor not only Stephen but also his firefighter brothers and all those who perished on 9/11. They will never be forgotten!

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has extended this run into a national event and has placed Lewes, DE and the Delmarva Peninsula among other cities on it’s map. All proceeds from the Tunnel to Towers Delmarva 5K will go directly to the Foundation.

The sole purpose of the Stephen Siller Foundation is to honor the legacy of love given to us by Stephen Siller, FDNY, who laid down his life on 9/11, by “doing good” in his name. The mission is to follow Stephen’s footsteps through support of children who have lost a parent, firefighters, and military who have been seriously injured and sacrifice their quality of life in the line of duty.
