🌴 Y’all come on down to the LSAC! 🌴

Tonight we’re gonna mosey through a couple of Molinete variations. They’re smooth, they’re purty, and they’ll give your Tango vocabulary a little more Southern seasoning. 😎

🐎 Tonight’s Pattern Reviews:

1️⃣ Molinete to the Closed Side of the Embrace

Also known as the Dark Side. 🌑

Led by the Leader’s 2-step. We’ll ease into that one nice and smooth, just like a slow ride down a country road.

2️⃣ Molinete to the Open Side of the Embrace

This one gets led from a back Cruzada. A little different route, but it’ll get y’all where you’re going. 🤠

📣 Tango Reminder
In Argentine Tango, pattern names are described from the Follower’s perspective.

So when we say “left,” we mean the Follower’s left, or the closed side of the embrace.

Confused? Don’t worry, darlin’. Once we get our feet moving, it’ll all come together. Eventually. Probably. 😂

🇮🇹 TANGO BY THE BEACH PRACTICA 🇮🇹

TANGO ITALIANO: PICCOLO, ELEGANTE & MOLTO STRETTO! 🍷💃🕺

This Tuesday • Lewes Senior Activity Center • Same Place • Same Time

This week we're taking a little trip to Italia without the expense of airfare, luggage, or explaining to customs why there are tango shoes in your suitcase.

We're working on a beautiful little series of patterns that is perfect for dancing in close or open embrace, especially when the milonga floor is packed tighter than an Italian family around the dinner table.

🍝 Cross System Cruzada
We begin with a little incrocio. Nothing complicated. Just cross your feet and pretend you know exactly what you're doing.

🍷 Sacada → Molinete (Giro)
A smooth, elegant turn with just enough giro to make you look like you spent your summer dancing in Buenos Aires... or at least watching YouTube videos about it.

🪑 Sentada
The tango crouch!
No chair required. No sitting reservation necessary. And please don't confuse this with La Siesta, although we understand the temptation.

🌿 Forward Ochos
Beautiful, compact and wonderfully useful when there are approximately 47 dancers occupying space intended for 23.

🇮🇹 Tango Close
And finally, we bring our little Italian feast to a proper conclusion. Perfetto!

The whole combination is compact, elegant, musical and social-dance friendly, making it ideal for those evenings when the floor is crowded and your tango strategy is basically:

“Dove posso andare senza colpire qualcuno?”
Where can I go without hitting somebody? 😂

Leader's Rotational Molinete (Leader Step Around) with two favorite trail endings:

- 🌵 Ocho Cortado
- 🌵 Over Rotation Secada

Then we'll circle back to last week's crowd favorite...

⭐ Review #2
Soltadas (the graceful "letting go") along with a Barrida to sweep everything together.

Last week, our very own trail boss, Don Barrow, proved he's not only an outstanding tango leader... he's also exceptionally qualified to lead a wheelbarrow. 🤠 Fortunately, tonight's lesson won't require one... although there may still be a few partners tempted to make a quick getaway during the Soltadas!

Don't worry. Around these parts, we always round 'em back up.

🤠 Cowboy Wisdom of the Night

"A good cowboy never jerks the reins... and a good tango leader never jerks the embrace."

So dust off those boots (dance shoes will also be accepted), hitch your wagon to the LSAC, and join your fellow tango cowpokes for an evening of smooth turns, clean releases, elegant endings, and plenty of laughs.

No cattle experience required. Just bring your best western spirit and your tango smile!

💃 Last Chance to Tango in June! 🕺

Tomorrow night is our final Practica of June, so come help us dance the month out in style!

This is the perfect opportunity to polish everything we learned during our spectacular weekend workshop with Sid Grant. Let's bring those close embrace techniques, sandwichitos, enganches, and ganchos onto the dance floor and turn new knowledge into smooth, confident dancing.

And don't forget the excellent lessons from our own resident instructor, Amanda Showell. We'll continue building on those fundamentals while helping each other refine technique in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

Whether you attended the workshop or not, everyone is welcome! Come dance, ask questions, experiment, laugh a little, and enjoy a wonderful evening with your Tango By The Beach friends.

What an absolutely spectacular weekend of Argentine Tango! 💃🕺

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for the Tango By The Beach workshop with world-renowned tango instructor Sid Grant. From beginning to end, the weekend was filled with learning, laughter, friendship, and some truly unforgettable dancing.

Sid's two outstanding group classes challenged, inspired, and delighted dancers of every level. His remarkable teaching style, infectious humor, and ability to make even the most intricate techniques feel attainable are gifts that make every lesson a joy.

Saturday evening's potluck dinner was a feast in every sense of the word! Thank you to everyone who contributed the incredible array of homemade dishes and desserts. Your culinary talents were every bit as impressive as your dancing, and sharing such delicious food together made the evening even more special.

Then came a magical surprise...

Sid and his partner, Francesco, treated us to an impromptu showcase dance that left the room spellbound. Watching them effortlessly switch between lead and follow roles was nothing short of mesmerizing. Their musicality, elegance, creativity, and seamless connection reminded us all why Argentine Tango is such an extraordinary art form. It was a performance we'll be talking about for a long time.

As if the weekend couldn't have been any sweeter, we received a wonderful surprise during the Milonga when our dear friend Kamal walked through the door. We hadn't seen him in more than 10 years, and it felt like welcoming family home. Welcome back, Kamal! You were truly missed, and it was wonderful to share the dance floor with you once again.

To everyone who attended, volunteered, cooked, danced, laughed, and helped make this weekend such a success...thank you. You are the heart of Tango By The Beach, and weekends like this remind us why our tango family is so special.

Tango By The Beach is ready to kick off an incredible weekend of Argentine Tango with the amazing Sid Grant! If you missed the pre-registration window, don't worry—you can still pay at the door for all group lessons, the potluck, and the Milonga.

💃🕺 Tuesday Night Practica Recap... What a Wonderful Evening!

We had a fabulous turnout for our June 22nd Practica and an equally fabulous lesson on the Quebrada! There were lots of smiles, "aha!" moments, and some beautiful attempts at this elegant and playful movement. As always, learning together made the evening both fun and inspiring.

A special welcome goes out to our three newcomers, Lou, Meg, and Monica. We were delighted to have you join our tango family and hope this was the first of many Tuesday evenings with us!

The celebration didn't stop there. Greg brought along his lovely bride-to-be (Natalie), and we raised a toast to the happy couple as they prepare to say "I do" this Friday, June 26th. 🥂❤️

Thank you to everyone who came out and filled the room with energy, laughter, and wonderful dancing. Nights like this remind us that tango is so much more than steps... it's community, friendship, and sharing special moments together.

Tomorrow evening’s Practica will be at STANGO PARK!

🕖 Time: 7:00 PM-ish (same tango spirit, different dance floor)

🎶 Entertainment: LIVE Big Band Concert

📍 Location: Stango Park
☔ Rain location: Cape Henlopen High School

We’ll gather on the patio, claim our tango territory, and perhaps sneak in a tanda or two between trombones and swing rhythms. Think of it as Argentine Tango meets Big Band under the summer sky. What could possibly go wrong? (Famous last words before Don attempts a dramatic dip near a saxophone section. 🤣)

Please bring:
-Your own chair🪑
-A sweater or light jacket (evenings can get sneaky)🧥
-Street dance shoes (leave the delicate tango soles home)👟
-A drink and even munchables if you care to.

This may be one of our few Goldilocks evenings before summer turns the outdoors into a slow-cooked empanada. 🌡️🥟
