What a Special Treat! ❤️🎶💃🕺
Three couples from Tango By The Beach had the extraordinary privilege of being invited to dance Argentine Tango to the Southern Delaware Orchestra’s encore performance of Por Una Cabeza at Sussex Central High School. And to do it again at Cape Henlopen High School.
We went into this thinking of it simply as an opportunity to do what we love to do: dance Argentine Tango. But once the music began, we quickly realized that this was anything but an ordinary tango.
Imagine stepping onto the floor and hearing an 80-member orchestra fill the room with the hauntingly beautiful strains of Por Una Cabeza. Then imagine dancing inside that sound, feeling the music surround you with every step, every pause, every embrace.There were moments when the music was so beautiful and so powerful that it brought tears to our eyes as we danced.
It is difficult to put into words what it feels like to hear this extraordinary piece performed live by a full orchestra while you are actually dancing to it. It was one of those rare moments when music, movement and emotion seemed to become one.
And then came another beautiful surprise.
The members of SODELO treated us like royalty, presenting each couple with a beautifully crafted thank-you note and flowers. Their warmth, kindness and generosity touched us deeply. We may have been invited to dance for them, but by the end of the evening, we were the ones who felt truly honored.
And what a wonderful audience! Their warmth, enthusiasm and generous compliments made the experience even more special. We could feel their appreciation from the moment we stepped onto the floor.
As tango dancers, we spend countless hours practicing steps, patterns, musicality and connection. We try to make the dancing look effortless. Today, however, we were reminded that sometimes the magic has very little to do with the steps.
Sometimes it is simply the music.
And today, that music was extraordinary.
Thank you, SODELO, for giving us a memory that we will carry with us for a very long time. Dancing Por Una Cabeza with 80 musicians surrounding us was far more than a performance. It was a gift, a privilege, and one of those wonderfully unexpected moments in life when you realize just how lucky you are to be standing exactly where you are.
Three dance couples went home with flowers in their hands, beautiful memories in their hearts, and Por Una Cabeza playing just a little differently in their souls. ❤️🎻🌹
