⚔️🛡️ Hear Ye, Fearless Tango Raiders! 🛡️⚔️

This Tuesday, June 2nd, the longships once again dock at LSAC for an evening of Argentine Tango, camaraderie, and the occasional navigational error disguised as “creative interpretation.” 😄

Tonight’s Featured Lesson:

🌊 The Viking Voyage of the Front Ocho & Parada & Sacada 🌊

Prepare yourselves for a beautiful Nuevo movement so captivating that even the Norse gods might pause mid-mead to admire the geometry of it all. This glorious pattern, recently being polished to a Nordic gleam by the infamous Norseman Don Barrow and Shield Maiden Amanda Showell, begins with a simple front ocho, parada & sacada and unfolds into something worthy of saga status.

Fair warning: you are going to drool over this pattern.

The best part? You can grasp the concepts in three minutes. Yes, three! Roughly the time it takes a Viking to sharpen an axe, question a map, and accidentally cabeceo the wrong shieldmaiden. This is a cooperative venture between Amanda and TBTB. Without her there would be no Tango Norsemen or Shieldmaidens.

Whether you’re a seasoned tango berserker or simply tango-curious, come ready to sail the dance floor with good humor, great company, and perhaps a dramatic flourish or two.

⚓ Tuesday Evenings at LSAC from 7 to 9

Bring your dancing shoes. Horned helmets optional. Floorcraft mandatory.

💃🕺 A Heartfelt Thank You, Tango Tribe!

What a wonderful evening at LSAC! The turnout for last night’s Volcada review lesson was nothing short of fantastic, and the room was positively humming with energy, curiosity, and just the right amount of controlled leaning. 😄

It was truly a pleasure to see so many dancers show up eager to revisit, refine, and occasionally renegotiate their relationship with gravity. From beautifully shared axis moments to the occasional “creative interpretation” of the volcada, the enthusiasm in the room was unmistakable.

A special thank you to everyone who came ready to learn, laugh, support one another, and bravely place their trust in partners while tilting ever so slightly into tango uncertainty. Watching newer and seasoned dancers alike explore the mechanics and magic of volcadas made for a joyful and lively practica.

The tango flame burned brightly last night, fueled by your energy, generosity, and willingness to dance just a little off-center.

Challenges in tango are the polishing stones of the dance, quietly transforming awkward steps, missed cues, and wobbly moments into deeper connection, sharper skill, and the occasional hard-earned flash of magic. 💃🕺

Until next time... keep your axis negotiable and your embrace steady. 😉

💃🕺 Keepers of the Tango Flame!

The tango lantern flickers to life once again tonight at LSAC, where balance is optional, connection is essential, and occasional near-catastrophes are often rebranded as advanced expression. 😄

Tomorrow's featured lesson: The Volcada
(That deliciously off-axis tango moment where trust, timing, and gravity enter into a delicate little negotiation.)

• How do dancers appear to defy physics without requiring orthopedic intervention?
• Is a volcada a lean, a spiral, or an elegant conspiracy against personal space?
• How can two people momentarily abandon vertical certainty and still emerge looking sophisticated?

Fear not, brave tangueros! Tomorrow we’ll explore the art of the Volcada... creating shared axis, controlled intention, and that unmistakable floating sensation that whispers, “Yes, we meant to do that.”

No trapeze experience required. A sense of humor and willingness to trust your partner are highly encouraged.

🕒 The Plan
7:00 – 7:30 PM: Warm-up & social dancing
7:30 – 8:00 PM: Lesson: Volcada Fundamentals
8:00 PM onward: Practica, experimentation, and gentle negotiations with gravity.

Come ready to learn, laugh, and perhaps tilt your tango ever so slightly off-center.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for last night’s well attended Practica! The room was alive with energy, curiosity, and plenty of good humor as we explored the finer points of Milonga etiquette... from cabeceo and floorcraft to the timeless art of not creating tango traffic jams.

It was wonderful to see such enthusiastic participation and thoughtful discussion about the códigos that help make Argentine Tango such a uniquely respectful and enjoyable social dance. Judging by the lively engagement, attentive dancers, and generous spirit in the room, we may have prevented at least a few future ronda pileups 😎

Special appreciation to everyone who contributed questions, observations, and stories from the dance floor. A strong tango community is built not only on beautiful dancing, but on kindness, awareness, and shared understanding.

Thank you all for helping make it such an enjoyable evening. We look forward to seeing everyone again soon, gliding gracefully into the ronda... and perhaps with just a little more understanding of floor craft and tango etiquette!

💃🕺 Keepers of the Tango Flame!

A gentle reminder that tonight we gather once again at LSAC for an evening of Argentine Tango, connection, and the occasional graceful recovery disguised as “artistic interpretation.” 😄

Tonight we will practice Milonga Etiquette & Conduct
(Codigos, Mirada, Cabeceo, floorcraft, and the delicate social choreography that keeps tango civilized and prevents international incidents on the dance floor.)

Ever wonder:
• Is it acceptable to cut across the ronda like you’re late for a flight?
• What exactly is the mysterious Cabeceo and why are people suddenly making meaningful eye contact from across the room?
• How do seasoned dancers glide through a milonga without stepping on toes, feelings, or handbags?

Fear not! Tonight we’ll explore the noble customs of tango society, from invitations to navigation, and all the deliciously unspoken rules in between. Think of it as a survival guide to avoiding accidental tango felony charges if you are headed to Argentina.

🕒 The Plan
7:00 – 7:30 PM: Set the scene (Tables and seating)
7:30 – 9:00 PM: Milonga Etiquette, Codigos, Cabeceo, Tandas, (Instruction is a no no), connection, and field-testing your newly acquired tango diplomacy.

Come ready to learn, laugh, and sharpen your tango savoir-faire.

See you tonight… and remember: in tango, eye contact may be legally binding. 😉

Argentine Tango Practica every Tuesday 7 - 9 PM
Lewes Senior Center (Activities Room - rear entrance)

💃🕺 Esteemed Footwork Fanatics!

Prepare yourselves for another lively Tuesday evening at LSAC, where elegance, timing, and occasional controlled chaos meet on the dance floor.

This week’s featured lesson (May 12th): The Leader’s Gancho. That’s right… the dramatic tango maneuver that looks astonishingly impressive when executed correctly and mildly resembles tangled fishing gear when it isn’t. 😄

We’ll explore the mechanics, timing, and lead behind this flashy little jewel of Argentine Tango. Followers, fear not… no actual harpooning will occur. Leaders, this is your chance to add a little cinematic flair to your dancing repertoire.

🕒 The Plan
7:00 – 7:30 PM: Warm-up and AT social dancing
7:30 – 8:00 PM: Lesson: The Leader’s Gancho
8:00 – 9:00 PM: Practica, connection, experimentation, and the occasional “Well… that was almost magnificent.”

As always, come ready to learn, laugh, and enjoy the wonderful connections that make tango such a marvelous addiction.

See you on the dance floor… and keep those knees negotiable. 😉

💃 Tangueras and Tangueros! 🕺

It’s almost time for another mind-tingling Tuesday night of Tango at LSAC, where elegance meets occasional chaos and everyone leaves a little wiser...? Here’s the scoop for this week: We were planning a review of the last three weeks, but I’ve decided to “circle” the wagons next week instead. Yes, that is your clue for this week. 🔍

🕒 The Schedule

7:00 – 7:30 PM: The Warm-Up

Wake up the feet, loosen the joints, and remind your body that yes, tango is happening tonight.

7:30 – 8:00 PM: Add some pizzazz to your Calicetas:

Learn how to add an inside turn to a right-side Caliceta, followed by a shadow Caliceta.

Tangueras, there’s more to a Caliceta than spinning like a top at a yard sale. Think disassociation, balance, and staying gloriously on your own axis.

8:00 – 9:00 PM: Open Practice

Time to polish your new patterns, improve your flow, and attempt to remain magnificently upright.

💡 Why you should come:
Because tango is better than sitting at home wondering if your furniture still respects you. Come learn, laugh, move, and share a great evening with wonderful people.

See you on the dance floor, where circles will be made, mysteries revealed, and gravity politely challenged.
