As summer starts to slip away, here’s a beautiful mid-June shot of our display, showcasing PRR 60.

In addition to the Railroad Display at Lewes Jct., the Lewes Junction Railroad and BRIDGE Association also maintains the Swing Bridge that carried the railroad over the Lewes/Rehoboth Canal until the line was taken out of service in 2016.

Working with DelDOT and the City of Lewes, a display location was identified for the bridge. And on February 15th and 16th, 2022, the bridge was picked up and slowly moved from the canal to the display site about a quarter mile away.

Built in 1916 by the Pennsylvania Railroad, the bridge was part of the construction of the canal by the Corps of Engineers. It is a hand-cranked bobtail swing bridge.

The bridge is displayed at the end of American Legion Rd. Banners and information kiosks tell the full story of the bridge, including it's part in the upgrading and maintenance of Ft. Miles before and during WWII.

The red PRR Caboose that's at the RR Display, PRR 477123, is the same caboose shown crossing the swing bridge in the fourth picture.

FMW is back to work on 60. Today, they installed accurate replica builder’s plates on each side of the smokebox.

FMW Solutions has done an outstanding job restoring PRR 60. Here’s some more shots showing the results so far. A little more work is still to be done in this first phase.

More progress on our locomotive #60. Windows are in and headlamp illuminated! Just a few more details to wrap-up.

A few more pictures of the latest additions to 60, including the cab. The last picture is a beautiful shot showing the newly installed cab, sand dome, footboard handrail, and grab rail for the cab.

Lots of progress on locomotive #60. Now onto the little details.

Work on PRR B6sa #60 has been paused the last few weeks. However on Tuesday the cab will arrive and FMW will resume work. They estimate about 2 weeks to complete their work which includes installing the cab, installing some miscellaneous pieces including the rods and sand dome, and finishing the painting.

In the meantime, 60 looks fresh and clean in front of the faux Lewes Passenger Station.

Reports say there's still draft beer and cans left. But if you're in the area, you might want to get them before they're gone.

This Saturday May 9th 12-9 PM New Beer release. Lewes Junction Lager with a portion of sales going to the Lewes Junction RailRoad & Bridge Association.
Live Music, Foodtruck, Beer and Wine.
Walk up the trail to the Lewes Library and visit the restored Engine, Tender and Caboose.
We are thrilled to be part of this as my Father and Uncle both retired from the Railroad.

For anyone looking to join the festivities, here is a quick breakdown of what’s happening:
The Main Attraction: The release of Lewes Junction Lager. It’s a "beer with a mission," as a portion of the sales goes directly to the Lewes Junction Railroad & Bridge Association to help preserve local history.
The Vibe: You can expect an afternoon of live music, food truck eats, and a selection of beer and wine.
The Experience: Since the brewery is right near the trail, it’s a perfect opportunity to walk up to the Lewes Public Library to see the restored Engine, Tender, and Caboose in person.

It’s great to see the community coming together to support the preservation of the railroad heritage.
