To be part of Wai's planning team is a gift. To be given the task of caring for him on his adventures is an honor. The goal is always to support and protect Wai as he conquers the challenge that he has put in front of himself. On Sunday morning at 2:00 am, with 11 loops to go, Wai looked at me and said, "I need you to stay with me and get me to the finish." At that moment I knew what my job was, but in actuality, Wai didn't need me. I was going to help make getting to the finish line easier, but what was motivating Wai to finish is what always motivates him, the CHARITIES.
Wai's crazy adventures are never about him and his goals; instead, they are always about the charities he fundraises for. The Thomas Hartman Center for Parkinson's Research is in memory of Wai's very best friend, Dennis Almadovar's father, who fought a hard fight with Parkinson's, and those of you who know Denny know he is a pretty special person as well. The second charity, Agape Meals For Kids, provides food to children in schools with food insecurities, but they also supply presents during the holidays, pjs, school supplies, and more.
As this post is written we are over $38,000 combined for both charities, but that isn't enough for Wai and his team of minions (you know who you are). Help us, Help Wai, reach $40,000 before we reach a week from when the event started last Friday!
Remember. EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS!
No matter how big or small the donation, it will help to make a bigger difference.
Thanksgiving is around the corner. Agape provides meals to families who otherwise couldn't afford a Thanksgiving dinner.
Did you know that at the Parkinson's Center they diagnose and treat challenging and complex cases, becoming the experts in Long Island. Your donation will continue to help fund the research that is being done at Stony Brook.
