Providing housing and facilitating the progression of growth for individuals impacted by homelessness LEADERSHIP: DWH is governed by a Board of Directors.

Design Wall Housing (DWH) is a non-profit corporation organized exclusively for charitable purposes, within the meaning of IRS Publication 557 Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (the “Code”) or the corresponding section of any future Federal tax code. The DWH charitable purpose is providing safe and affordable housing to those impacted by homelessness which align with the defin

ition of charitable fromIRS.gov, as given below:
“The term charitable is used in its generally accepted legal sense and includes relief of the poor, the distressed, or the underprivileged; advancement of religion; advancement of education or science; er****on or maintenance of public buildings, monuments, or works; lessening the burdens of government; lessening neighborhood tensions; eliminating prejudice and discrimination; defending human and civil rights secured by law; and combating community deterioration and juvenile delinquency.”
MISSION STATEMENT: DWH provides housing and facilitates the progression of growth for individuals impacted by homelessness. VISION: The DWH vision is to end homelessness in our area as to impact the broader global issue. Board members oversee and approve all decisions, and formulate strategic goals, as well as oversee the health of the organization. OBJECTIVES:
To provide the physical structure for individuals that are impacted by homelessness
To provide a physical structure that is safe and affordable
To provide an opportunity for stability as a byproduct of quality housing

📚🏘️ Back to School in Maine: A Fresh Start Isn’t Equal for Everyone

As students across Maine head back to school, thousands are carrying more than just backpacks — they’re carrying the weight of housing instability.

➡️ 1.8% of Maine’s public-school students lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence — meaning they’re living in shelters, motels, doubled‑up situations, or places not meant for habitation.

➡️ In the most recent statewide count, 14.9% of households experiencing homelessness included at least one child, underscoring how deeply this crisis affects families.

Homelessness impacts attendance, learning, mental health, and a child’s sense of stability — but together, we can change that.

At Design Wall Housing, we’re building safe, dignified units to give individuals, families and youth the foundation they need to thrive in school and beyond. Every unit completed is another opportunity for focus on learning instead of where they’ll sleep tonight.
