🚒 When Comms Fail, Lives Are at Risk

One South Dakota volunteer fire department was facing: Missed emergency calls, coverage dead zones, and outdated radio gear

Instead of risking another failed response, they made one smart upgrade—and transformed their entire comms system.

✅ Better coverage
✅ Reliable response
✅ Safer operations

Whether you're part of a ham club or an emergency crew, this story could change how you think about your setup.

The funeral service for our brother Michial will be Saturday, April 5th at 10:30 in the Wessington Springs gymnasium (904 2nd St. NW) any responding fire departments with apparatuses will be staging east of the gym starting at 9:45. The staging area is highlighted in yellow. You may also park in front of the Central Electric building and along the gravel road going to Springs Side Implement. There will be a reserved area to be seated in the gym. After the service there will be a processional through town. The fire hall will be open to responding departments for fellowship. Trucks may pull off when we pass the fire hall, its towards the end of the route. I also want to thank all the fire departments across our great state for the outpouring support. The brotherhood is still strong and makes this difficult time easier.
