I know many of you were sad to say goodbye to Leonia Moose, but take a look at what’s taken its place — The Rooster!

This stunning kinetic art piece was created by New Mexico–based artist Frederick Prescott and generously donated by Leonia resident Richard Stenken (thank you!), so everyone in town and beyond can enjoy this colorful new addition!

Born in Palo Alto, CA, and now living in Santa Fe, NM, Prescott is a self-taught artist whose work blends the real and the fantastical. Using bold color and moving steel, he creates vibrant sculptures that truly come to life.

Fun fact: His collectors include Michael Jordan, Oprah Winfrey, and Wendelin Wiedeking (CEO of Porsche) — just to name a few!

We are sad to say goodbye to the Leonia Moose in the Erika and David Boyd Sculpture Garden. Installed in 2020 by artist Alberto M. Bursztyn, the sculpture was crafted from tree limbs gathered in nearby Highwood Hills Park. It evoked both the spirit of the primeval forest and the memory of its long-absent natural inhabitant.

Beloved by Leonia residents and visitors alike, the Leonia Moose will be missed. In its place, a new installation is coming soon—so stay tuned!

We’d like to introduce a new sculpture, Ae**us, on Beechwood Ave, Leonia. The artist Norman Sas wrote, “Ae**us, named for the Greek god associated with the wind, is a large kinetic piece, fashioned of steel, and yet it moves with the slightest breeze.  That dichotomy continues to draw the observer’s attention.” Please come out to see this new sculpture and enjoy the fall weather.

It is September! What’s happening in the sculpture garden in Leonia? Two new bugs flew here and found their home. The firefly has solar-powered lights that twinkle at night.
Along with the firefly, the new ladybug landed on a perfect branch looking over the cow and the cat. These two lovely sculptures were installed by Leonia artist Mary Martire. Stop by and stroll the garden enjoying these new sculptures.

What a nice way to wrap up a day: sitting on this chair peacefully and seeing the sunset. Here is the new art piece installed on Station Parkway, Leonia, NJ, donated by Brooklyn Artist Noel Caban.

”Peace Talk“ by Noel Caban: A neutral environment where productive dialogue can occur is crucial, symbolized by a simple table and 2 chairs. I offer opposing parties a place to sit and it is my hope that one day we can live in peace.

Gorgeous day!
Today, we held a lovely volunteer celebration event at the Erica and David Boyd Sculpture Garden. Marilyn Torre, the president of SFL, and Cynthia Forster, Director of Bergen County Cultural and Historic Affairs, spoke about the organization and the honorees with their contributions. Our gratitude goes to the ten honorees, the former and current members, and the community who enjoy the sculptures we bring to town and always support SFL in many ways. We hope everyone had a great time and spread the joy to the community. If you missed today, we promise we’ll put together another fun event sooner than later.

Sculptures covered by the snow over the night look so serene and peaceful. Stay warm with hot cocoa or perhaps a glass of wine and visit this garden when it’s not too slippery out.

Many of you might have already noticed that we acquired another great piece of sculpture and got it installed on Station Parkway. Lenny Harrington’s Blue Cube brightens up the town in these cold days. Don’t forget to check out its shadow which changes its shape every second.
