As we celebrate the birth of our great nation, let us remember the sacrifices made by generations of brave Americans to preserve the freedoms we hold dear.

On behalf of American Legion Post No. 1, I extend our deepest gratitude to all who have served, are currently serving, and to the families & friends who support them.

Today, as fireworks light up the sky, let us also reflect on the values of liberty, unity, and service that continue to shape our nation. May we never take our freedom for granted.

Wishing everyone in our community a safe, joyful, and meaningful Fourth of July.

National Poppy Day®
May 24, 2024
Poppy Day is celebrated in countries around the world. The American Legion Family brought National Poppy Day® to the United States by asking Congress to designate the Friday before Memorial Day, as National Poppy Day.

On the Friday before Memorial Day, wear a red poppy to honor the fallen and support the living who have worn our nation's uniform.

The red poppy is a nationally recognized symbol of sacrifice worn by Americans since World War I to honor those who served and died for our country in all wars. It reminds Americans of the sacrifices made by our veterans while protecting our freedoms.

May 18, 2024: Armed Forces Day is celebrated on the third Saturday of May. On this day, we honor those servicemembers who are serving and have served. We recognize their selfless sacrifices. We renew our solemn vow to them and their families, caregivers, and survivors.
