The first area Rotary club, established in 1984. We meet every Thursday morning at 7:15am at Tim’s Diner on Water Street in Leominster.

The first time the word "AREA" was used in a Rotary Club name was May 7, 1984. Up to that time Area Clubs did not exist. An "Area Club" was the idea of William M. Marshall of Leominster, MA. Bill believed the geographical boundaries should be enlarged to allow more leeway in the area a club could recruit from. After years of discussion with Rotary International of Evanston, IL. Bill was granted permission to organize an Area Club. He was a member of Leominster Rotary Club and along with help from Fitchburg; Fitchburg East; Lunenburg and Westminster Rotary Clubs, began to hold meetings at Howard Johnson's Restaurant at routes 2 & 12 Leominster, MA (now Friendly's Restaurant)

Starting in October of 1983, the Charter Members began to grow. By January 1984 we had moved to larger quarters at the Holiday Inn, Leominster, MA. Charter membership was closed on March 22, 1984 and the first Area Club received Provisional status April 10, 1984. Our Charter was granted May 7, 1984. Charter night was held on June 29, 1984 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Leominster, MA and we were welcomed into Rotary International by District Governor Henry Brown as the World's First Area Club.

Today was so exciting! Not only did we welcome our District Governor, Penny Hamel but we also induced 3 new members! Welcome to the Montachusett Area Rotary, Sierra Hughes, Cassi Gendron and Enier Rodrigues DaSilva!

Did someone say PIE?! For the first time EVER, we are taking PRE-ORDERS for THANKSGIVING PIES from OLIVERS CAFE in Leominster, MA! Your purchase will support the charitable efforts of the Montachusett Area Rotary which covers a footprint of 10 cities and towns in North Central Mass. Pies can be picked up the week of Thanksgiving. Happy ordering!

One of the many projects we do for our community is maintaining Cormier Park! Some of us got together this morning to replace the flags and clean up the park! ☀️

Full house at Tim's Diner for our meeting this morning! We were joined by Rotarians of the Nashoba Valley club and we celebrated the success of our joint project. Our clubs funded and received grant funds to build a greenhouse for World Farmers! We also heard from our member Tamela Barrett Deveikis about our new upcoming grant for new technology at Crystal House Clubhouse!

Don’t be caught unprepared! Your Mom would want you to support your local Rotary club, even in the rain. 😂
As a matter of fact, how many soccer games, baseball games, hockey games did YOUR MOM go to in the RAIN to support YOU?!

The forecast is looking a little wet for Saturday, but we’re not afraid of a little rain! ☔️ Come
on down to Monument Square in downtown Leominster to pickup some flowers, pies and other sweet treats to bring to all the Mom’s in your life.
