‼️Attention State Fair Livestock Exhibitors‼️

South Dakota State Fair: Attention all SD State Fair livestock exhibitors: After careful consideration of the forecasted heat index and to ensure the safety of all livestock species, the SD State Fair Commission has implemented temporary amendments to the 2026 State Fair exhibitor rules.

Livestock release will be permitted starting today (September 3) through Sunday, September 6 from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM ONLY.

All exhibitors must obtain a Livestock Release Form from their barn superintendent. These temporary rules will be in effect today through Sunday. Exhibitors leaving the fairgrounds are to exit Gates 3.5, 4, and 8.

🐑 Market Wether Lamb & Market Wether Meat Goat Ultrasound Contest 🔍

South Dakota 4-H will host a Market Wether Lamb & Market Wether Meat Goat Ultrasound Contest at the 2026 South Dakota State Fair!

Sunday, September 6
📍Tent north of the Dairy Goat Barn & northeast of the Livestock Complex

1:30 pm - Educational Presentation
2 pm - Free Ultrasound Scanning

Dr. Rachel Gibbs, certified ultrasound technician and NDSU Extension Specialist, will explain how ultrasound is used to evaluate carcass characteristics, yield and quality, and how feed and care can impact carcass results.

Following the presentation, 4-H’ers can bring their market wether lambs (after they have been shown) and market wether meat goats to be scanned for free.

Results will be recorded, with Champion and Reserve Champion market lamb and meat goat carcass animals selected. Winners will receive banners.

No pre-registration required! All are welcome to attend and learn more about carcass quality.

Showmanship Winners were selected in each of the 8 divisions. A Begginer, Junior and Senior Exhibitor were selected. Each of these young people will receive a custom printed jacket in their size.
Congratulations to these outstanding showmen!
