With the warmer weather here, we are excited to see people in our communities out and enjoying the weather, and summer activities starting up! Unfortunately, similar to last summer high incidents of injury associated with the e-bikes & e-scooters.
Some of these incidents have resulted in serious trauma, including head injuries, fractures, and high-speed crashes. The good news? Some of these injuries are preventable, and serious injuries, less severe with appropriate protection!
Protect yourself:
• Always wear a properly fitted helmet
• Consider additional protective gear (gloves, pads)
• Wear high-visibility or reflective clothing, especially when riding on roadways
• Follow traffic laws and ride predictably
• Stay alert and avoid distractions
E-bikes and e-scooters can reach higher speeds than many expect, and visibility to drivers is a major factor in preventing crashes. Making yourself seen, especially in low light or busy traffic, it can save your life!
