Our department alongside many others across the state are continuing to assist with trying to get control over the rapidly spreading wildfires. Please continue to keep all the responders in your prayers, and please comply with the burn bans that are in place. It only takes a small fire to cause a serious impact. If you see someone burning please contact 911 so the local responders can mitigate the issue before it turns bad.

Starting today, much of South and Central Georgia are under a burn ban as we continue to respond to wildfires and deal with ongoing drought conditions.

We're asking all Georgians to do your part in preventing the spread of wildfires as response teams work around the clock to contain those currently blazing.

Enjoy the Lean-Ox Festival this weekend!

This weekend kicks off the 43rd Annual Lean-Ox Festival in downtown Lenox, Georgia (Exit 49 on I-75).
Established in 1980, the festival started as a project to construct a Fire Station through the Governor’s Local Incentive Program. Almost a half a century later, the vision of using the festival to improve the community continues.
The Festival Committee has used festival proceeds on projects such as a walking track, playground equipment, fire and police equipment, new park gazebo, veterans park, and more. This year’s proceeds will go toward a renovation of the Lenox Athletic Field. New fencing for the field was recently completed thanks to appropriations secured by Rep Jaclyn Ford and Rep Chas Cannon.
This year’s festival has over 100 vendors on Saturday, along with a parade at 11 a.m.
On Friday night, Bootleg Stereo will provide a free concert in the park starting at 7 p.m.
