Save the Machine

Save the Machine Save the Machine's goal is to preserve computer history by preventing, or rescuing, vintage computer hardware before it's sent to landfills or scrap yards.

We are a group of computer history enthusiasts in western North Carolina. This group is the outcome of our combined interest in collecting and demonstrating vintage computer equipment and software. We continuously seek donations and invite others to join our cause. Preserving these now obsolete systems is something we are very passionate about. And we hope to encourage others to help preserve comp

uter history for future generations. What we do:
Our mission is to educate future generations about the technology of years gone by, and to demonstrate what technology was like for past generations. We are seeking to build a collection of computer systems for preservation and demonstration. We also advocate the prevention of these older systems from ending up in landfills and scrap yards. What we don’t do:
We don’t hoard computers for ourselves. We don’t turn around and sell computers for profit. What do we look for? We are seeking to build a collection of computers ranging from the early 1990’s back to the 1970’s and earlier, working and nonworking. We restore and maintain any hardware deemed worth preserving and demonstrating.
