It's a day past Christmas but the reason for the season is always with us, so Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all our veterans and members. May God's blessings be with all of us in good health, happiness with families and friends, and strength we need to accomplish our service for those who have and still serve so others can enjoy our freedoms.

We had a great meeting this Monday and gained two new members in the process! NC is so close to being #1 in membership so glad we have found such willing partners to help us accomplish our goals.

We have a lot of programs gearing up for the summer starting with Legion Baseball
We are teaming up to help Post 29 in the concession stand during home games and the Adam Church concert we are hosting all at Deal Stadium in Granite Falls.

Memorial Day and our poppy drive is also this Month. All donations we receive goes directly to support Veterans. We’ll be on the square during the Memorial Day ceremony, weather permitting but rain will not deter the ceremony it will be moved into the Post 29 Hall just up the street if the weather requires.

Ladies Fast Pitch softball we have joined Post 29 to sponsor our Junior team along with the town of Sawmills who is completely absorbing the costs of hosting their home games. We’ll be attending their games to cheer them on and we have made a donation to help pay for uniforms.

We have also partnered with Western NC Society of Artisans to sponsor the student who wins first prize in their upcoming juried show their work in the Red Awning Gallery located in the HUB as a displaying member for the rest on the year. These students were chosen by the Caldwell Juvenile Justice Departments as at Risk youth and have been participating in art classes with Carole Childers and Beverly Mihelich beginning in March. Their work will be available for sale.
The opening of this art show is scheduled for June 3rd with a reception from 5-8 that is being funded by Skyline Bank in Hudson to pay students in the Caldwell County Juvenile Justice Department culinary program to cater the event. They have been working hard to develop their culinary skills with catering as their business goal and we understand this event will be their debut.

The join the American Legion you must be honorably discharged with a DD-214. Recently established at Post 29 if you are Veterans with a DD-214 and ride motorcycles and own one you can join the Post 29 American Legion Riders.
The join the American Legion Auxiliary you must be a wife, daughter, or granddaughter of a Veteran who if living is a member of the American Legion. If your veteran is deceased you are eligible to join the Auxiliary no matter if they were Legionnaires or not. We have two dual member Veterans who serve the Legion and the Auxiliary. If you are a Veteran and your spouse is a Veteran you can also join the Auxiliary.
