This braille slate differs from other braille writing systems because of its ability to write and read from any direction. This is especially important for people who have lost their sight late in life and may have trouble adjusting to the traditional inverse writing and reading of Braille. The slate is:

Direct slates are portable and accept any type 8.5 by 11in. paper from copy to bag weight. Braille can be coded from any direction and can be corrected. Braille can be coded in two sizes standard and 1.75 jumbo. A hollow stylus is included with each slate. Guides are removable from backboard for travel if required for coding cards or notes. Plastic tape for permanent marking can be made on 1/2 & 3/8 inch.
