I took these pictures of barbed wire earlier today in the rain.
It was twisted, tangled, and wrapped around a fence post.
The Lord showed me that this is how we can become entangled in sin, fear, worry, bitterness, or the troubles of life.
Hebrews 12:1 — “Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”
Just like the barbed wire becomes twisted and caught around the post, we can become tangled up in things that keep us from moving forward with God. Some things may not look like sin at first, but they become weights that hold us back.
Proverbs 5:22 , “His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.”
Sin can start with one small twist, but before long, we can find ourselves wrapped up and unable to get free. The good news is that Jesus can set us free.
John 8:36 — “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
The barbed wire may look impossible to untangle, but there is no knot, chain, or bo***ge that is too difficult for Jesus to break.
Psalm 107:14 — “He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.”
God doesn’t just meet us in our tangled places—He can break the bands that hold us there and lead us into freedom.
Galatians 5:1 — “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bo***ge.”
This one may be the most powerful for your photograph. The word “entangled” fits the twisted barbed wire perfectly.
Don’t get entangled!
Look closely at the barbed wire. What was once a straight fence has become twisted, tangled, and wrapped around the post. Sometimes life can feel the same way. One worry becomes another. One hurt leads to bitterness. One compromise leads to another. Before we realize it, our hearts and minds can become tangled in things that keep us from moving forward.
Galations 5:1
But God has not called us to live in bo***ge. “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bo***ge.”
The enemy wants to keep us tangled. Jesus came to set us free.
Whatever has you twisted or tied up today fear, worry, guilt, hurt, anger, or sin—give it to Jesus. You don’t have to untangle every knot by yourself. The One who made you is strong enough to set you free.
“John 8:36, If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
Sometimes God doesn’t remove the fence; He teaches us how to stop getting caught in the wire.
